“Went for an evening meal whilst visiting the area. Very friendly reception, our dog was well received and given a treat, which always goes down well with him. Food was delivered quickly, hot, well presented and tasty. Service was friendly and quick, nice atmosphere. Reasonably sized car park. Only 10 mins out from Winchester and we will definitely return when visiting in the future. Recommended.”

“Great food, great service and a lovely venue with some really nice views no matter what the weather. The old ship has many little hiding spots to have a quiet meal or drink with friends. The atmosphere is always vibrant and energised. Plenty of space inside and out to enjoy especially in good weather. The team are very friendly and always willing to accommodate or help. Waiting time is spot on, no matter how busy they are they set expectation at the start of your experience. Bar service is always very quick and the team always know who's next to be served. No only that, they acknowledge you and make you feel at home. They have space to hire for events, parties, meetings. So if you want your own space, they can accommodate. However, I highly recommend booking. All in all. Top notch experience, highly recommend”

“Really impressed with the afternoon tea served here! In all honesty, I wasnt expecting anything great. For £24, at a bar in town...I thought it would be pretty standard. But, I will admit this was possibly one of my favourite afternoon teas I've had! The sarnies were great, and perfect portions! The sweet treats were delicious and beautifully presented!! We were offered a complimentary glass of prosecco when we arrived, and again as we were paying up! Service was great. Staff would check all was well and then left us to it, while remaining nearby should we need refills etc. Our table was 12-2.30, but we never felt rushed to leave (we left about 3.30!) and could have easily stayed there into the evening. Overall, we really enjoyed our afternoon and will definitely be booking again!! Thanks so much!”

“Always hearty homecooked style pub food, nice flavours and good portion sizes. Usually a good selection of beers on tap, always worth a visit. Dogs welcome inside as long as you're sat in front of the bar.”

“6/9/22 popped in for lunch while in the area. Lovely pub, great food and very friendly and welcoming staff. Would highly recommend. Owner said they'd only taken the pub over in May, wish them every success for the future. If we were local we would definitely make The Dolphin a regular place to frequent.”

“First time visit for nearly 40yrs!! Not quite in the style of the old pub but in the same location opposite the Civic Centre. It has space upstairs for live bands to perform, the main bar is downstairs & there is covered seating outside. The bar has a massive Saints FC theme & is frequented by many fans before & after games, also handy to have a beer or two before or after a gig in the Guildhall. Us oldies used to frequent this establishment before & after games back in the day, so it was great to return. Usual beers & ales for sale, a definite recommendation even if you’re not a football fan.”

“We went here yesterday for a late Sunday afternoon roast and booked a table for 8. I was blown away by the service from Scott and the team. We had two young boys with us and he was patient, kind and attentive to them, nothing was too much trouble even getting them extra paper and dealing with all their special requests. The food was delicious and I’ve been telling everyone how brilliant it was. So good I couldn’t not write a review. If there is any recognition rewards - Scott absolutely deserves a medal for his approach and customer service. It’s been a long time since I’ve had such exceptional service at a pub/restaurant.”

“We had my husbands 40th here last night. There was 27 for a sit down meal which is a lot to take on. Food was nice and hot on serving. We all had a fab evening! The staff couldn’t have done enough for me, from arriving to decorate in the afternoon til leaving at closing. I’d like to thank the staff accommodating us all!”
