“We were greeted with warm smiles as we entered. Goes a long way for me. Our table wasn't ready due to the previous people refusing to pay (even though they'd eaten their plates clean). The manager and numerous staff kept apologising and reassuring us we'd be seated asap. They were genuinely apologetic. The situation was handled, with the people at our reserved table. So well, that noone else in the restaurant knew it was going on. Completely professional. Our waitress was such a sweetheart, and even though they didn't have everything we asked for, her apologies were too sweet to get cross with. Maisie you're a superstar and extremely good at what your doing. Martin and Alex were our chefs, and have to say the food was perfect. I had, ribs sweet potato fries and delicious homemade slaw... Yummy. We didn't leave a scrap. It was very busy on Sunday, so would suggest you book.”

“August 2022 A return visit since our last disappointed visit. Pleased to say the service and staff had greatly improved. This is the King Rufus standard as it was in the past. Food , staff and service very good. We will return, hoping this evening's experience can be repeated Had a birthday celebration, returned as the food was good on our last visit. Not eaten here or many pubs or restaurants since COVID restrictions started. December 2021's can only be described as very disappointed. On arrival we were second in the queue at the wait .for table. point. Nobody arrived for a few minutes. Eventually it was our turn to be taken to our table. Went to the bar to buy some drinks, the bar could have been on board the Mary Celeste. Not one member of staff available for several minutes to serve another customer or me. At last time to order our food. Food arrived quite quickly , hot food hardly hot, most of the food heat was lost to the plates. Not close to good pub grub. Simple dish of chips in a main course were cold, Replacement chips took 10 minutes to arrive. We we offered free desserts, but this hardly made up for poor meals. Not likely to return and have such an extremely disappointing evening repeated. November 2019 Used the cheap menu on this occasion. Food really good quality for all three courses Another return visit, ( Nov 2019) this time for a snack lunch and drinks. Service and staff very good, although the pub was quite busy the food arrived in good time and excellent quality. Very enjoyable lunchtime.”

“AMAZING!!!! Waiter Radar was my server. he was brilliant! Brought out food out in speedy time. We bought the triple combo, the chicken was amazing, it fell apart in our mouths. Drinks were brought out before waiter had even taken the rest of our food order. 10/10 experience will definitely be coming here again.”

“Had a work lunch here and food was fantastic! Smoke stack burger was very tasty and portions are generous! Chips and dirty fries are excellent! Had the Hampshire Cider and that was very good! “We had a great time together as a family, all 18 of us, in the “ snug”. The children had space to get into mischief and adults had a chance to feel comfortable. The meal was tasty, everyone loved their food chosen from a wide menu. Somehow the staff always stayed friendly and efficient despite the challenges of coping with us all. “I have been to this venue 3 times and it never fails to impress. It has a great ambience and the food is good. You need to book if eating at this restaurant because it is very popular! Well done to management and staff for providing a lovely country spot to have a meal.”

“When entering, Joe was very welcoming and friendly, very nice service and polite man, then there was Jess, her waitress service was spot on, very polite, smiley and nice, very efficient on checking if we were OK and the quality of the service was spot on. Moving onto the meal, cooked to perfection, presentation was great and compliments to the chef. Will definitely recommend and will be coming back.”

“Visited with my grandmother on Friday evening. We didn't have a table booked and the gentleman sat us in the conservatory. Very polite and welcome and great service. The fish and chips was amazing and at a very reasonable price. Will definitely be back next time in in the area.”

“This is a great local pub, first time in here today, very welcoming staff who will have conversation with you. There is lots on offer here from sports on tv/pool table/ darts to 3 days a week kids play session. Every Saturday they have live music from 9pm varied music and quiz nights Mondays for £1 entry. Decent sized outdoor area (with music) which they are looking to expand. Once they have there bbq/potential hog roast up in the beer garden area this will be a go to pub in the summer. Hidden gem.”

“I would 'jump the Pond' from Philly to come back to this Pond anyday... In all the ways possible, this was a five-star experience. Five of us came in around 5 o'clock (pun fully intended) and I thought it will be busy for dinner time, but it wasn't at all. We sat outside for a bit, but then moved indoors in search for a bigger table. First we ordered the lamb koftas and they were very good. Meat was a bit dry, but perfectly aided by the tatziki sauce and pomegranate (and quinoa?) medley. The main course was a beef rib, Scottish trout with mussels, a Korean BBQ chicken skewer, and a not-so-vegetarian vegetable curry bowl with chicken. All are highly recommended, plentiful meals. The beef could have been slightly less fatty, but for me, it added more flavor to the experience. The staff was very nice and helpful, and what I really liked - in contrast to American restaurants - they checked on us only twice during our meal so we could enjoy it. You'll want to come here not just for the food (and drinks!) but also for the atmosphere. The Fishers Pond is on a picturesque pond (duh) with tree-lined shores and they have a wonderful terrace that overlooks it all. We went back outside after the meal and had some coffee and dessert to enjoy it all. The interior of the restaurant is equally gorgeous - very modern, yet comfy, cozy and historic. I mean around 1100s historic, which is not a big surprise for this part of the world, yet impressive still...”

“Had 3 course Christmas dinner. Food plentiful, delicious and well presented. Atmosphere was great. Staff friendly yet professional. Would definitely recommend to anyone even if just popping in for a drink.”

“Stayed in the hotel for 2 nights and booked in here for breakfast and dinners. Had family and friends meet us. We had a great time, staff where lovely food was delicious. They as great with my friends son who has a milk allergy and even brought out fresh clean cutlery just for him. Thanks for a great time”
