Reviews
"All reviews seem to be the same, the staff at this community are some of the most rude people I have ever come across! On top of being rude they are pretty incompetent and the lack of communication between the staff members is unreal! They could care less about the residents or their well being which probably why so much crime occurs in the "gated" community known as Cheswyck! 0% chance I'd ever recommend living here!!l"
"I did my initial review as a request from the leasing office when I first moved in. I am updating this review because as of 12:00 am EST time tomorrow I am no longer on notice and my lease is done! This apartment complex is the bottom of the barrel as Ballantyne apartments are concerned. I dealt with roaches, dirty neighbors, loud children, lack of parking, broken gates that resulted in cars been broken into and neighbors having their doors kicked in. There were broken amenities, and an unprofessional and rude management staff. The leasing office turnover has been noticeable and has impacted the upkeep of the community. When I first moved in July 2020, the leasing agent that assisted me, (a white woman by the name of BROOKE RUSSO who no longer works there) informed me that hanging anything in the halls was standard wear and tear and I would not be charged. This sounded correct to me seeing as though I had just moved from Atlanta and my former apartment had the same policy. Today I found out that I was responsible for patching and painting any walls before moving out. I had several issues with noise and rowdy neighbors and when I called the courtesy officer I was informed by a gentleman that he no longer worked for the property and to stop calling him. I lived here for two years and the location was great for my commute to work, but this property was not! LOOK ELSE WHERE! DO NOT SIGN A LEASE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I moved to Cheswyck two months ago from Georgia. I scheduled a visit to the property in June. The staff had a amazing safety measures in place for COVID. I was able to look at an exact replica of the unit I was interested in. Moving from state to state in the middle of a pandemic was very stressful but Brooke Russe made it incredibly easy! After my first visit I was able to handle all of the major detail over the phone. On the day of move in the apartment was clean and looked just like the apartment I was shown during my visit. Since being here, I have had no extra fees , the community is nice, and the staff is still very hands on."
"There is a lot I can say about this place. When I first moved here the staff was attentive and very helpful. I never had many issues in the beginning but by the end there were several issues especially with management. One of the first issues I had was neighbors above us throwing garbage off their patio and in front of our apartment. When I let management know it was not cleaned up for another month. The biggest issue is communication. I emailed the staff several months in advance to see what there procedure was for moving out. I emailed and called them 5 different times before they responded to me, letting me know that I needed to submit a 60 days notice (which is what I had been emailing them). Once I moved all of my belongings out I went back to the apartment to clean it and turn in my keys. Then a month later, after I reached out to them first. They informed me that I would not get my security deposit back and that I owed them money. Bottom line, I would not recommend this complex. The apartments are decent and the neighborhood is sometimes quiet (sometimes not), but management makes this living situation worse than it should be. They got enough money from my 13 month lease, I don't think they needed my security deposit as well."
"IF I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE ZERO STARS I WOULD. The worst apartment and experience I’ve ever had. I never leave reviews but really want to save anyone the trouble of ever renting from there. They took my whole security deposited and are charging me $200 on top of it for water damage that they caused. They completely take advantage of you! I overlooked maintenance never coming, never having anything that worked, and having to stay in a hotel while they fixed a water line that busted due to their negligence. I never asked to be compensated for that so I never thought they would do something like this and rob a single mother! I will be disputing these charges but for now have to pay so it doesn’t go into collections. This is such a nightmare. Don’t get scammed and fall for these apartments! Run far away from this place and DO NOT RENT THERE."
"The only reasons why I still live on this property is because it's close to my job and the wood-burning fireplace. I have been here for two years and from dawn to dusk all I hear is the slamming of doors and the 300 children that live on this property that scream to the top of their lungs running through the parking lot that they use as their own personal playground. My neighbor's children and their friends favorite past time is to slam their front door as often as possible and to INTENTIONALLY STOMP UP AND DOWN EACH AND EVERY STEP ON THE STAIRCASE WITH ALL OF THE FORCE THAT GOD AND GRAVITY WILL ALLOW AT LEAST 10-15 TIMES A DAY (this is not an exaggeration, management is aware and has done ZERO to stop this and just offer their sympathies). The only time you have any peace during the day is when it's raining or it's freezing outside. Parking in front of or near your unit has become a gamble these days due to the number of "guests" aka people living on the property who aren't on the lease. Between the "guests" and the children, watching them all leave an apartment at the same time is like being at the circus and watching a clown car unload and you wonder how they are fitting so many bodies into one space. The apartment itself is average with outdated appliances and fixtures. They've thrown money into updating the gym which is pretty nice and converted one of the unused tennis courts on the back of the property into a playground that the aforementioned children don't bother using since they run wild unattended throughout the rest of the property (I have watched them literally rolling down a hill tearing up landscaping with reckless abandon). They do provide storage space right next to each apartment unit which is very convenient and comes in handy since the closets seem a bit tight. Management and Maintenance have good response times to emails and requests. The most hilarious "upgrade" to the property were the four speed bumps located three feet apart from each other in an effort to slow people down who are exiting and entering the main gate instead of addressing the issue of the children running wild and the never-ending foot traffic of the housewives who gather and walk around in packs like geese giving you dirty looks while blocking the road and parking spaces. P.S. - Good luck with ordering Doordash or any other food delivery service for dinner and it making it to your front door without the delivery person calling you at least three times because GPS takes them to the 2nd gate which is only accessible with a resident key card, then finding the the main gate and keypad (why is it under a tree????) and then finding your apartment since the signage is only visable during daylight hours."
