"No security in place; anyone can come in and access apartments, especially when the coffee shop downstairs is open. I had several packages get stolen. The elevator has been out of order for weeks now (since end of January 2024) with no resolution in sight. No rent credit will be provided even though this is clear reduction of amenities and an ADA compliance issue. They said they need the funds for the repair. Cause Madison Park, a Californian real estate corporation, is apparently struggling for money. Ha… I agree with other reviewers that mention the lack of communication from the building management; when I moved in, I had put up signs in front of the building to reserve space for the moving truck, but that didn’t prevent residents from parking there. No one was available to help and my moving experience was honestly the worst I’ve ever had… The key I was given wouldn’t open the front door, I couldn’t reserve the elevator, and the moving truck was too big to fit in the parking garage. And no one would be there to answer the phone or their emails. I also had a hard time getting helped with noise issues coming from the apartment under me (neighbor blasting music until 2am, intense bass you can feel through the walls). The noise issue subsided a bit, though. The HVAC gave up on me during the summer (apartment’s temp reached 100+ degrees inside) and doesn’t seem to be doing well in the peak winter temps. Maintenance was super helpful a few months after I moved in (March 2023) but I think the person that helped me no longer works here, and so the last intervention regarding HVAC was less than honest… during the snow/ice storm, my HVAC completely stopped working for 3 weeks; it was 40 degrees for 3 days in my apartment and no one would answer the phone to help, even their so called “emergency” phone. I was provided with a small personal heater but that wasn’t enough to heat the living areas so I spent 4 days stuck in my bedroom. You can imagine how high my electricity bill ended up being. I was told by the property manager that I could go to a warming shelter if I wasn’t happy. I ended up getting rent credit after many excruciating emails asking for it. During the ice storm, one of the fire sprinklers pipe burst on my floor and I was the one that called to let the maintenance manager know that 1) flooding was happening and 2) the fire alarm was happening. He had no idea. How are you not aware of these major things happening in your building? The trash room has been pretty gross in the last 6 months or so… - and as I update this, in Feb 2024, it has gotten worse. The parking garage is small and so there probably won’t be any opening for ya (I got on a waitlist and it took 9 months to get a spot- which was terrible timing cause my car that was parked out front got totaled by a drunk driver ha…) Street parking is metered and quite hard to find."
"I lived in Hygge for a year and it was by far the worst place I’ve ever lived. During the winter in 2022 the boiler broke down and we didn’t have hot water for an entire week, with zero compensation. The building staff did not respond to emails or phone calls during this time and ignored multiple attempts to speak to them regarding the water situation. Overall, Staff are rude and unresponsive to emails and phone calls and there is never anyone in the office."
"Building is clean and my unit is ok, but there's no temperature control (heat or cold), windows are silly and only open like 5 inches, and there's no security to speak of. Anyone can get into the building and into any floor they want, and steal whatever they want with no consequences. No cameras. Can't store your bike in the bike room so it has to go in your apartment. Deliveries can and do get stolen from in front of your door and nothing happens. I won't be renewing my lease here."
"Madison Park doesn't have a good rating, and unfortunately you can tell by the turnover of employees in all departments. I like my apartment , but the mgmt end is lacking."
"I confirmed the price of an available apartment ($1700) with the leasing manager via email before scheduling a viewing. I scheduled to see the apartment the next day. Upon arrival, she now told me the apartment was priced at $2100, and the price “changes daily”. I told you via email the price of the apartment was important to me, this is a complete bait and switch. I took an afternoon off of work for nothing. Even if the price does change daily, a courtesy email to let me know before I wasted my time would have been the right thing to do. So scummy."
