"Five stars because of the staff. Because no microwave without asking in the room is weird. As a former motel owner. But also because I was a former owner for many years. I am SHOCKED at how good the staff was. And I mean even when I called to make the reservation. Armando went above and beyond to make sure I had the answer to the ADA ability for my client. Brielle was soooo helpful. Mary is like unbelievable. She needs a raise. Brian was so friendly and nice, went above and beyond to make sure my disabled family member was taken care of. Tbh, manager Tristan was very nice but he was a regular hotel clerk, he is the only one with not much of a personality. But he did his job and was very nice. He just reminded me of the generic hotel guy when the others made you feel sooo welcome! Definitely will come again. (Since we unfortunately need to go to OHSU a lot). This is the best hotel stay I have had in years. Now had me reconsidering using airb&b’s most the time now."
"I would definitely stay here again. Older building that’s been tastefully redone. Everything you need and nothing you don’t. Friendly staff to me and my dog. Allows pets and has parking. Even electric charging. The only thing I would suggest is a better shower head. That could make a hell of a difference for $20 a room. The water pressure is great for a rainfall shower!"
"We stayed here for 4 days, our room was way too hot when I said something to the girl at the front desk she said “well better then too cold” they charged my card $200 at check out for fees they don’t tell you about while checking in or booking. The front desk is so rude. This is an extremely basic hotel and definitely not worth the money they charge. Find something better"
"Our check in experience with Mary was great. She was very busy when we walked in, a line of probably 8 people, but she got everyone in so fast and efficiently and was friendly and knowledgeable. Check out was equally easy and a positive experience, Jaleah and Tristan were very helpful and pleasant. Traveling with dogs can be so stressful but we felt so welcomed and all the staff was so happy to meet our fur babies. The drinks from the restaurant were good, the food was the only part of the experience I didn’t thoroughly enjoy. It was *fine* but there’s so much great food in Portland I’d recommend eating elsewhere."
"We are not from a big city which made Portland a bit too much for our comfort zone. We had needed a room last minute and researched online for the cheapest room available and we came across Hotel Zags. We booked our room online with no complications. Checking in was extremely easy. The staff were amazing and they offered so much more than just a bed to sleep in. The entire atmosphere at Hotel Zags was just what we needed. Hotel Zags will be my go-to place if ever needed again!"
