"Mostly fine. The location is great and they had a parking spot (paid) available unlike other places in the same neighborhood. The parking was very expensive though. As with many large property management companies, they have their procedures and safety nets for themselves. Move-in and move-out were easy, even with only 1 elevator. And management was accommodating to when I scheduled the movers and how much space they would need in the parking lot. I didn't have any big issues like some other reviewers say - no stolen packages, car break ins, etc. However, they sent me to debt collections after I moved out. Apparently, my resident account that auto-paid my utilities had been closed before the final bill was issued. I never received a notice, there was nothing in my security deposit deducted, and there was no way I could've known I owed anything beyond what I already paid. The debt collector is IQ Data International. At first I thought it was a scam. But then I had to dig around in a utilities account I only used at move-in since everything else was done via the resident portal. (You pay Central, not the utility company). The first notice I received was dated 12/12, I received it on 12/18 and I emailed CEL on 12/19 with no response. The second notice is dated 12/21 (and I only received it yesterday, 12/27). In the utilities account, the transactions just posted on 12/1. So they sent me to debt collections, with no notification of an outstanding balance, within 12 days of the posted transactions. I get that I should've noticed that I hadn't paid a bill. But I moved across the country and had a lot going on, including new bills to setup and pay. Regardless, a notification would have resolved this a month ago. Instead I'm paying interest on something I didn't know I even owed nor could access via the resident portal to pay. Disappointed -- I would have left a positive review otherwise."
"It's been ok. Most of the time maintenance requests have been followed through in a reasonable amount of time. Lots of turnover in management. Security measures in the building need to be enhanced."
"7/24/2023 update: DONT LIVE HERE. Had something stolen in the mailroom and the Current management said "take it as a lesson learned" and "the cameras are Fuzzy" Awful company and will never live in an Affinity property in 3 years we had atleast 6 "managers". They pretend to care and ultimately do nothing for the residents. atleast 7 storages have been broken for a few months now. Save yourself the trouble and pick a better place that will actually have amenities. The look isnt worth all the troubles. My issue is the inconsistency in pricing, lack of safety, lack of compassion for the people who live here. I think people are paying way too much for their place. The garage is like 200 but God forbid your car gets broken into INSIDE the "secured" parking area. They will try and charge you 175 to replace a garage key...it costs 20. My car got broken into twice behind the "secured" gate with a gap the size of a full body, atleast 10 cars got broken into in one night. There is security but he comes in one time at night around 12pm for around 10 min. Packages are stolen, bikes have been stolen, and people break into the building. Nothing has been done to fix it thus far. Yet they are raising our rent. The elevator stopped working through my lease multiple times. This place is not the secured haven it is making itself out to be. Management needs to realize they come here to work while we live here and deserve some peace and mind. There are multiple ways to up safety and its not being done, knowing them they will try to up charge that too. I'm ready to move"
"We lived in the building from July 2018 to Feb 2022. It started with no complaints beyond a lack of air conditioning. After Victoria left, any and all care for the building went with her; truly. Dozens of break-ins, countless packages stolen from the mail room or our apartment door, we paid for a storage unit that got broken into twice, bike stolen from the bike room, the incredibly dumb sign on the outside of the building that said the door was broken, squatters, the endless alarms on lobby doors because of broken latches, pricing discrepancies, the elevator that seemed to be out every other week, so much more ... All met with the biggest lack of understanding or comprehension. I cannot stress enough how infuriating management became. Talking to them was like talking to an alien, they did not understand a single issue or what a complaint even was. I highly recommend looking somewhere else for an apartment."
"Iβve lived here since November of 2017 and seen a fair amount of ups and downs at CEL during that time. Management was great for the first 3 years. Sarah and Victoria were amazing. We had a little bump in the road with the manager who followed but the new one, Adriana, is a welcomed change. She's been great. Recent drama on the third floor seems to have been resolved. Somehow I pay over $300 more per month for my apartment than my neighbor who has the exact same layout. The "bump in the road" manager was asked and all I was told is that I pay the fair market value for my apartment, which was recently increased. That remains a puzzler to me."
