"This place is very cheaply made. The walls are very thin. I can hear my neighbors..believe me, I don't want to. The door jam is leaky to air and the large windows make it very cold. The heating system is not able to heat my very small apartment when it gets cold in the winter. The place advertises "green construction" and that is the reason the lights are so dim that it is hard to see in the bedroom, but if they were really environmentally conscious, some thought would have gone into the construction so that so much heat is not lost such that I have to waste money and energy in a futile attempt not to freeze in my own apartment. My central heater has been running non-stop and it is freezing in my apartment. Perhaps it is because there is shared ventilation with other apartments so my heater that has been running non-stop and set at 90 degrees gets the apartment to a balmy 69 and is probably losing heat to the hall and adjacent rooms. When your neighbor smokes, or maybe the neighbors a few doors down, you can smell it, like you are smoking in your apartment. Also, if they smoke outside on their porch, you can smell it inside your apartment too. It's like a cheap hotel, but at least those can get warm inside. I would not recommend living here. Your neighbors change on a daily to weekly basis because they rent out rooms like a hotel or Airbnb...so much for background checks for residents. The staff is nice. It's not their fault they have to try to sell this quickly and cheaply made apartment complex that was made as quickly as possible and with as little investment as possible, to try to fit as many people into a space and get money out of them without considering quality."
"I just resigned my lease because we absolutely love it here. The staff is 10/10 and the property is always so well managed, plus they are constantly investing money back into the property with modern updates. It’s quiet, clean, functional, great for working professionals, and the dog community is so fun!"
"I lived here for a year and knew I wouldn't be there long so I did not put any holes in the wall and made no noticeable changes to anything in the unit. I specifically asked the maintenance workers if I needed to paint or do anything to my walls prior to moving out and they told me no and that they are only worried about mounting holes and what not. Despite this, I was charged for paint and other various charges related to the unit. Q21 will keep your entire deposit no matter how great you leave the unit. They also have not replied to me in over a month about the discrepancies I had related to the charges. While living there, they were very secretive about safety issues on the premises. We once were forced out of our apartments for several hours due to a fire and they did not inform the tenants for days what had happened and only did after many people asked. They also were not forthcoming about another issue where someone was being threatened with a gun and did not inform us on what was happening or do anything to help tenants keep themselves safe while there were cops swarming the premises. They also allowed hundreds of people to continue paying $215 per month for parking while the parking garage door was broken and people's cars were getting broken into. They allowed us to keep paying and also did not tell the people who park in there that there were cars getting broken into on several occasions. I found out the car right next to mine got the window broken out because it was posted on the tenant portal. There was recently another, possibly intentional, fire that started on the communal grill in which they did not inform tenants about and was also posted on the tenant portal. The building is really nice and the maintenance workers were all great but I'd recommend choosing a different NW apartment building with a different property management company due to the issues experienced and the price point."
"I could not be happier with my time living at Q21! I was very impressed with the building management’s efficiency, professionalism, and care for their residents. The maintenance team is very helpful and timely. Their amenities are clean and never crowded- the workout room, the shared common spaces and outdoor space, bicycle storage and dog washing station, and parking (although we chose to pay for street parking). We lived in a townhome and loved feeling like we had a home in the heart of the city. It was quiet (couldn’t hear the construction down the street or neighbors!) and convenient to have a porch and walk-up front door. New Seasons, OrangeTheory, YogaSix, coffee shops, and many bars and restaurants down the street. The only downside was the houseless community walking onto our porch on multiple occasions and attempting to open our door, as well as spending a lot of time on the benches across the street, making it occasionally feel unsafe. All in all, I would highly recommend living at Q21 if you’re wanting to live in Northwest Portland."
"I loved living here. Spent a little over two years in an apartment overlooking the courtyard. For me, the location is almost perfect. Close access to all of NW Portland, the Pearl, forest park, and super close freeway access as well. Having a grocery store across the street is so, so convenient. Leena was great- Leasing agents could learn from her. Any service requests were dealt with promptly and professionally. A couple things I will note- while I was living there the property management was renting out units through Vacasa. The building is a secure building, a reason I chose it. However, a steady stream of tourists in the building doesn’t really align with my ideas of a secure building. Also, my HVAC unit was terribly loud. I don’t know if others’ had this experience, but I had to buy a space heater and use that instead because the HVAC system is so loud. Besides those two minor gripes, my experience at the Q21 was excellent. Highly recommended ."
