"No AC, rats, fleas, black mold, high rent. Unfortunately, the people running this company are in a position of power and are abusing that power. They illegally gave me a 10 day notice to move, in response to me asking for rental assistance due to me paying 1000 dollars a month for a house that was deemed unsafe to live in. I got a secondary infection from flea bites and couldn't go home for a month. Instead of being understanding and taking ownership of the problem, they asked me to leave. Do not trust these people, and don't give them your money."
"Old apartments with constant plumbing problems and no amenities. I’ve moved due to black mold, ceilings falling down, yet the rent ballooning with 20% increase in a two weeks notice. Ok for last resort but be prepared for constant struggles to get things fixed and a management that truly doesn’t care about anything but saving money."
"After 8 years of being here Steve is finally pushing everyone out so he can get his share of the money greed that is going on with rent inflation. My rent went up 25 percent and he claims he will do his best not to increase it more. Tenants won’t be able sign a lease to lock in the rent price. If he wants tot change it he can. 1400 dollars for a place with no ac, pathetic heating, no washer/dryer, zero amenities, and so much more. I tell you people. Spend your money else where because this place is going down the crapper."
"WNC Rentals runs the apartment complex I lived in for three years; I'm not sure if they have other properties, but this is my review of The Woods on Merrimon Avenue. The apartments are extremely affordable for such a great location and condition. The main office was always incredibly pleasant to deal with, and the maintenance guy was always friendly, prompt, and helpful. You can easily walk to places like Luella's BBQ, Homegrown, the UNCA running trails, Asheville Pizza Company and Brewery and, if you're up for a bit of a trek, you can walk downtown. For the incredibly affordable price, I doubt you'd able to find something better in Asheville."
"I just moved in this year of 2015 in January and it is now March 27 2015. I was looking for a place that was very close to my work, my family, to restaurants, to shops, to pubs and I couldn't have asked for a better spot then right on Marrimon Avenue. I needed a place that was reasonably priced since I live alone and found that most places are EXTREMELY high, but this place is by far the best price for its location. My last place was great for location but not price and each year i lived there they went up $100.00 on rent and The Woods promised the IF they went up on rent it was the highest of $25. This assured me that I could afford to live here for years and years to come. I'm am pleased with the town-home style instead of one floor which makes for more space and privacy. Plus there are so many windows and very little carpet!! Yes the home has a lot of character since it was built in the 50's, but I love its older style and imperfections. I find it to be very Asheville! Another thing I love about the Woods is my property manager communicates very well, asks for permission to enter my home, and is just so nice in general! The maintenance crew is AWESOME and QUICK to fix every issue I've had. I've never experienced that anywhere I have rented before. Lastly when you move to a new area you tend to worry about your neighbors, but I have found that I live around very kind people of all ages. I even see men and women walking with their children up and down the street which makes me feel that I'm in a safe place. I definitely recommend this place for anyone who isn't looking for high end expensive living and close to everything a person needs."
