"First the decent. Really nice flashy and sparkly things. Now the bad. If you need to get any humanity out of these people don't expect it. They will fall back to legally binding contracts and take advantage of your kids. My son, who is a child still, was convinced by them to sign a lease and 3 days later when he was accepted to the dorm, they could care less. They didn't want to show any type of humanity and took advantage of him. He now has to take a student loan and they could care less. I highly recommend not dealing with these people. They just don't care."
"Threatened with eviction and police for having a pillow fort in my closet. Way too expensive for such a tiny place. I moved in early so I signed a thing saying my apartment wouldn’t be cleaned after the last resident so I don’t feel I can speak to that. Walls are incredibly thin. Practically no parking unless you’re willing to pay an obscene amount. It may be conveniently close to campus but DO NOT LIVE HERE. EDIT: in reference to comment from management, a random quarterly room check was done (we were made aware of this) while everyone except one of my roommates was out. Housekeeping spoke to only one roommate who came to me after and said she felt coerced to say something was wrong and that the housekeeper scared her. Every one of us has or had a partner(s) and it was not out of the ordinary to see them in the apartment and no one has had issue. When I was confronted with the issue police were brought into my apartment. I was told I could either confess to having someone living in my closet or they would evict me. They told me they would not and could not believe anything I said. Anything I said to the contrary was dismissed as lies. My roommates tried to have my back but management decided they were “changing their story” because I was there. It was also suggested by housekeeping that my bf was abusive when this is not the case. I was treated like a criminal. I did not feel safe and I did not feel like I had a voice. I REPEAT DO NOT LIVE HERE"
"It would be a challenge to find a better apartment in Boone. This place is fantastic, the staff are extremely kind and attentive. The maintenance staff work very hard and are always so nice. I can count on the people here to make sure any problems I have are dealt with almost immediately. Highly recommend living here!"
"This is the first google review I recall ever writing. As a parent/guarantor, I highly do not recommend The Standard at Boone. The Standard billing threatens collections and credit score damage for move-out charges. The move-out charges for the Tenant - not counting roommate - were over $300. Tenant noted a long list of items on move-in form both shared space and personal room damage that were charged at check-out even though noted on move-in form. We offered for them to even keep the deposit (even though we should not be required to) to settle. At check-out The Standard had an extensive list of charges and assessed for items such as cleaning blinds and fans as an example which under NC law are considered normal use exceptions which is also noted on the lease form. I have attempted to notify The Standard multiple times and they have only been willing to trade emails and do not appear to read my input just their bill and have not been willing to talk. I know for a fact, as I was at move-in and had to do repairs and clean, that Tenant left the apartment in better shape when she left than at move-in. If you proceed to lease from them, get a copy of move-out checklist and fees before you move-in."
"I do not recommend The Standard in Boone NC. The apartment my son and his roommate moved into was not clean. Items were left in the kitchen. Food was stuck to kitchen cabinets, hair and filth in the bathrooms. I cleaned it thoroughly for my son and his roommate. The furniture was dirty and didn't look anything like the furniture that was in the model. We requested better furniture and never received it. They moved out 1 year later and I again cleaned leaving it better than it was when he moved in. We even cleaned the carpets with our own carpet cleaner upon move-in and out. They kept the entire deposit and charged $150 b/c he had a very small wall knick where a picture was hung. We appealed the charge and they sent us to collections. That is just wrong. It appears they do not care."
