Holiday Inn Boone - University Area, an IHG Hotel 1075 North Carolina 105, Boone, NC 28607

"Checked in to the hotel after driving up through a snow storm, only to find out the pool and hot tub were closed for maintenance. Spoke to hotel staff twice before driving 4 hours to get here and they never mentioned the pool was offline. The main reason for coming was to have an indoor pool for the kids to play. Staff are not sympathetic to the concerns and unable to make any type of decision to make my family feel compensated for the inconvenience. I mean a free breakfast, cup of coffee, discount on room rate or something! I’m sure I’ll get the same canned response to this review as others have “thanks for bringing this to our attention…please give us a chance in the future.” Mary Claire your welcome for yet again pointing out what others have already stated in the last several months and I’m here for two nights. Future stays will be determined by current actions."

"I stayed for one night and they charged me two. I requested a refund weeks ago and only got a response today and they still said their system decides when it gives the refund and they have no idea when it will be happening. They were short staffed and the people that were there were incompetent and rude. One even said, "I don't know if we even have your room we are overbooked" when we first checked in. The manager refused to come to the phone and never called me back. The list goes on and on. I do have a soft spot for hotel workers being that I was one for many years, however, this is absolutely ridiculous."

"Where to start??? Apparently this hotel is "challenged" all the way around?! Checking in on time? Nope, housekeepers didn't show up to work. So no rooms ready. We had two booked, check in by 4pm. We arrived at 7pm, ready to shower and get out to dinner. But we had to skip the shower part, and unloading of the truck. There wasn't an option to wait at the "advertised" restaurant and bar in the hotel... as the employees didn't show up for that either. So no option to have breakfast either, as the restaurant stayed closed during our stay. Once we finally got some rooms, around 9pm, we discovered almost through a casualty of one of my kids, that the luggage carts all had flat tired. One almost flipped onto my kid, we barely got them moving into the elevator. Once on the 5th floor we discovered the room key wasn't working. So back down we go. Once finally settled in, room was ok, not super clean, but manageable. The next day the elevator on our side of the hotel broke, so now we have to go across to the other side to use the elevator (I took the stairs). But that made the check out super annoying. The shower had no water pressure, nor was I able to get hot water, the other room just had the option of scolding hot or ice cold. The coffee maker had a used pod in the maker and two used ones next to it... so I opted for morning coffee outside the hotel. So now you figure that a hotel management would try and resolve the issue of unsatisfied (rightfully unsatisfied) customers? Was I expecting a full refund, by all means no, but to just shrug it off and be done.... that actually made me really mad. Maybe that's why employees don't show up? If management shows this compassion to it's paying customers... I can't imagine how staff is being treated?!!! Holiday Inn did not offer a refund, but I will offer this review. Spend an extra $20 and stay anywhere but at this place. I stayed at a red roof inn that was better than this place.."

"Shower was scalding, impossible to adjust. Guy came up to fix it, next day it was stuck on cold. They charge for coffee in the morning, which tasted watered down. Beds were comfortable, room was clean. Life is tough when you can't shower in a room you just paid $550 to stay in for 2 nights. The staff members I've met have been dedicated, hard working, and sweet. It's either bad management or a defective corporate structure."

"I was really surprised to see the negative reviews posted about this hotel after I had already checked in. I found this location very comfortable, clean, and relaxing. The service was great, and my room was sparkling clean. I had everything I needed. I can’t speak for the pool area, which seems to be the source of a lot of negativity. That is an amenity that isn’t really important to me. I would definitely select this Holiday Inn again when I come to visit my son at App State."
