Shark’s Cove
● OpenShark’s Cove is a natural feature located in Haleiwa, Hawaii, United States. It is part of the Marine Life Conservation District (MLCD) which also includes Waimea Bay Beach Parks. Shark’s Cove is a popular site for snorkeling, with fairly shallow depths ranging up to 20 feet. Diving conditions are better outside the cove, where caves can be found. The area to the left of the cove offers excellent night diving. Three Tables cove, located at the district’s southern end, is named for the flat sections of reef visible at low tide. Snorkeling and diving conditions are good in this area as well. Waimea Bay is known for swimming and surfing, with some coral growth in the water off the rocky point. It is important to note that during winter months, current and wave conditions can become extremely dangerous in all areas of the MLCD. Lifeguards are on duty at Waimea Bay, but not at Three Tables or Shark’s Cove. Visitors can access the area by taking Kamehameha Highway from Hale‘iwa or Kahuku to Waimea. Parking is available at both beach parks, and bus service to the area is available daily.
