Reviews of Kohala Loke Lani
"This is the place to stay when wisiting the Big Island!! You have everything you need in the ohana, including a big folder with valuable tips to make your stay unforgettable! We tested alot of them, so glad we did! All from the littlest things to the more expensive stuff. Made the vacation interesting and more diverse than just going to the biggest beach. Also! They had different things to borrow, such as snorkeling masks etc. The ohana is located so that you have the most amazing view of the ocean. We ate every freakfast by the table fronting the spectacular view. And Pamela and John are just so lovely, welcoming and friendly. They always answered our questions greatily. The best hosts, really!! Speaking of breakfast and hosts, we got fresh eggs from P and J's chickens! They were just the best ever! 10 out of 5 stars!! ;) - Norway"
"Stayed four nights in February 2023. Pamela & John were such warm and responsive hosts, providing lots of extra info on things to do and see on the Island. The place was spotless and well-appointed, even including eggs from their hens in the fridge! Pool and views - lovely. We were even privileged to join them for whale watching on their boat - unforgettable. This is really a great place to stay on the Big Island. Do be aware that it's remote (just what we wanted) and you need a car to get around. Attractions are not close by."
"We can't say enough good things about staying at Pamela and John's Ohana house. It was was modern, open, clean, and had everything we could possibly need for our stay. It offered a rural, quiet, peaceful get away with hosts who were happy to give recommendations for adventure companies, restaurants and beaches worth a visit ~ and everything they recommended was great! We went up the volcano (Mauna Kea) for star-gazing, and as an amateur photographer I will tell you, the view was just as impressive from their pool patio! As animal-lovers, we loved the added bonus of a small group of farm animals who were adorable, happy, and friendly. They gave us happy greetings and easy smiles. John and Pamela patiently repeated the animals' names for us, indulged our interest in their lifestyle, gave us some marvelous duck eggs to try, and even taught us the importance of timing for feeding (so the goats don't get everyone else's food)! They truly made us feel the spirit of the house's name: Ohana. Don't think twice about it. This is the peaceful, tranquil, beautiful and uncrowded travel experience you need. We can't wait to return!"
"In Hawaii, the word “Aloha” is more than just “hello” or “goodbye” — it’s a feeling, a spirit of warmth, compassion, kindness, and love. Aloha is what you feel when staying here. And that shines through every sliver of the experience. The Ohana is impeccably located far enough away from the resorts to feel you’re living a local experience, but close enough to appreciate the restaurants and markets. The coastline is minutes away, and the ocean vistas are absolutely incredible. Communication with the hosts is thorough, clear, and warm. The Ohana itself is immaculate and truly has everything you might need during your stay (it is very thoughtfully curated)…and if you need something that isn’t here, the hosts will find it for you or direct you appropriately. The pool is amazing. The birds chirping is heavenly. The patio is great for working, writing, breakfast, and dinner. The host recommendations are spot-on…and they have even more if you ask them. The animals on the property are sweet and charming. And the hosts? Some of the most genuinely kind and caring people we have ever met, we couldn’t possibly list all of the things they did to make our stay over-the-top perfect. The only thing we regretted about staying was having to leave. This place is truly a treasure — part of an experience that made us fall in love with Hawaii. We wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else on the Big Island. It is truly paradise."
"We had a wonderful time. The Ohana was clean, comfortable and the views spectacular. Our hosts, Pamela and John, greeted us when we arrived, answered questions, and gave us fresh eggs from their chickens, had great tips and were excellent hosts. It was a treat to meet their standard poodle, Samson, who really LOVES his frisbee. We would remiss not to mention the performance of Elvis, the turkey, which was very impressive :-)"
