Hertz Car Rental - Island Of Hawaii, Kohala - Fairmont Orchid HLE 1 North Kaniku Drive, Waimea, HI 96743

"We had a terrible experience with Hertz in Big Island. More specifically, the treatment received at the Fairmont Orchid location was ridiculous. We got the car from the airport location and after a couple of days the car broke down near the hotel we were staying - the Fairmont. It was late evening and we called road assistance and they gave us two options. Go to the airport location to get a new car immediately or wait until 8am next morning and get a new car at the Fairmont location. We thought we could wait until next morning and get the car at the Fairmont. They oriented us to leave the car in the parking lot with the keys inside on the passenger seat. We found it strange and even recorded it so we wouldn't have any trouble later. But we did as told us. So at 8am I showed up at the Fairmont place and the attendant who said was the "manager for the whole island" told me there was no car available and nobody would have told me to leave the keys inside the car... He told me there was nothing in the system showing that my car got towed by Hertz and it was not anymore at the parking lot... so he couldn't do absolutely ANYTHING. I asked if the could call someone at the headquarters to get the recordings of the previous night. But he demonstrated zero interest in doing anything. He didn't lift a finger to call the Hertz personnel. I had to call several numbers until someone could find a case number and confirmed that the car get towed as per Hertz orientation and everything was fine with the car. Then as in a miracle a replacement car was available... The whole thing lasted for 45 minutes. It was not that long until the problem was solved but the attitude of the employee was the worse it could be. I was about to call police to report I got scammed by someone at Hertz road assistance channel. HERTZ never again. Rental Record: 101646031 Client: Renato Cunha"

"This was the worst rental experience I have ever had. First, there was no one at the desk on the day we were supposed to pick up our car. Someone finally arrived the following day and we barely made it to our scheduled activity on time once we got the car. While picking it up the computer at the hertz counter was broken so he manually filled out the rental agreement on paper. The car was dirty, smelled like cigarettes, and was low on fluids including being completely out of windshield wiper fluid. Upon trying to move our return location, the computer at the pick up location was broken again. When calling customer service they said they could not do anything because apparently a manually written agreement shows up as a 3rd party reservation (it wasn’t). Overall the service, the car, and the experience were terrible. 0/10 do not recommend."

"We are staying at the Orchid Hotel and have been trying to get in touch with someone about our current rental. There was a very nice gentleman working who advised us we had to speak with the Kona Airport location. We have tried to go down and speak to someone again at the hotel but no one is around. It says they are open from 8am-4pm but rarely anyone is around."
