"This listing is false advertising. The Host changed our booking to an inferior cabin to make more money by giving our cabin to someone else. They never informed us of this and when confronted with this they blamed us. Nowhere in the listing does it say that the Host reserves the right to downgrade the booking without informing the guest If this host booked the cabin we paid for as advertised in the listing with 4 beds nothing would been a problem but the host downgraded us into a tiny cabin with one bed for 2 guys. They did not inform us that they changed the booking and still did not tell us it was one bed cabin when we found out. The cabin had a leaking sink, missing light globes and it stank. When we queried why they did this they immediately retaliated by accusing us of having extra people staying. If the host honoured the booking none of this would have ever happened. But they are trying to cram bookings to maximise profits, plain and simple. . These are the facts. Anything the host says they are just covering up for their dishonest practices and the problems they caused as a result. Poor disrespectful host. UPDATE:: The host is lying in his response. We had people come over for dinner and left, but again the host is accusing us of having more guests than we booked for. How does the host know we had more than 2 guests staying? Did they spy on us? The fact remains that the host does a bait and switch with bookings to maximize profits. Then when you call them on it they accuse you of things you didn't do. Disgusting The host is a liar. As per the other 1 star reviews. UPDATE 2: The host is lying again to protect themselves and anything they say is a lie. The booking was not "at a neighboring property". We made the review anonymous to protect ourselves. The better thing to do would be for the owners to just say sorry but 4 years later they are still trying to defend the way they cheat people. This defensive behavior lets you know that they are cheating people."
"Should have a drop box for keys instead of having to be back by a certain time. We had to rush through our hike to get the key back by 5pm, but if there was a drop box we could have spent another several hours enjoying our time, then dropped it in the box after-hours."
"The cabins are in a great location. However, they are in need of a major renovation. The beds and couch are in poor condition and uncomfortable. The kitchen is old and needs to be gutted. The kitchen is not quite satisfactorily stock with kitchen utensils. Having stayed in many cabins across the United States, these are probably in the worst condition of any that we have utilized."
"First, the positives. This is a great location to start a hike in Kokee Park or Waimea Canyon. The setting outside the cabins is beautiful, and you are within an easy walk of Kokee Lodge (with great food and drinks) and trailheads. The cabin also has working appliances so you do not have to go out to eat. Now, the negatives. The first thing that hits you when you walk in the door (at least in Cabin 9) is the smell of mold. No matter how much we aired the cabin out, it smelled the whole time. Everything in the cabin is old and fairly beat up. This is only for those who want a rustic experience. It is fairly dark inside, even with all the lights on. The front desk encouraged us to buy two bags of firewood because the temperature would be so low - even though my wife gets cold everywhere, she was too warm for us to use any of it. Finally, beware of the roosters! We were woken at 2am every day, and they kept up the noise the whole rest of the day."
"We live Kauai. Booked a cabin months in advance. Got there. Roaches on counter in kitchen. Utensils & pots were dirty when I went to grab a spatula. Bed is beyond ancient. Cute cabin. Nighttime, got up, turned on light, killed 8 roaches quickly with hand. Spent not even 2 hours in bed that still has my back messed up bad (already have a major back/neck issue this made it way worse). - seriousl ystill in a lot of pain almost 2 weeks laater. We packed up and slept in car. Next day, told office. Only got reimbursed for partial stay. We weren't even in the cabin 8 hours! Highly recommend you buy a tent and camp up there. Cheaper and less of a headache."
