"BEWARE!! Avoid this place at all cost! The rooms are infested with roaches!! The first room the put me in was infested then move to another with the same problem. The manager ended up moving me to a suite on the second floor which looked ok. I was then moved to another hotel that they owned but to two separate units which is not something I paid for. I paid for a 2 bedroom hotel. DO NOT COME HERE!"
"(written 2023/7/13) After around two decades of owning this property this place has clearly shown its age. The rooms seem to be run down, with a lot of broken outlets, buzzing fans and non-filtered ice. The rooms also are not air-conditioned, but it wasn’t too bothersome for me. Ants, while I read reviews about them, wasn’t too much of a problem, but there were sporadic instances of them. No room service for the entirety of your stay. The location and service was amazing though, with a heated pool. Overall, it was pretty average of a stay, despite the rooms being in need of a remodel."
"The staff are friendly, and we enjoyed making lei's on site. The condo units are very dated. We stayed in a unit intended for 6, but there were two twin beds, one king bed, and a pull-out couch. The couch was worn out too. The galley kitchen was tiny, and there was no air conditioning in the unit. If you don't mind the heat and leaving your windows open at night, it's not too bad. The units are walking distance from the beach as well."
"For the love of god do NOT stay here. The location and staff are amazing. That’s about it. Fans barely work, and will turn off randomly. No AC (which we knew already). Floor tiles are cracked. Dirt everywhere. Had to get maintenance to our unit multiple times (sink clogged, dishwasher not draining water, tv not working, internet not working, etc). Place is outdated and overdue for a remodel. Most of the kitchenware was dirty on arrival. Can opener covered in gunk. There’s no hot water in any of the bathrooms. The pool deck is very nice although due to the way the building is, the water can get quite cold. Hot tub is nice but temperature super inconsistent. Hot tub ranged from scorching and burning to room temperature. BUGS! Bugs everywhere. Roaches in the bathrooms at kitchen, ants, other small insects inside drawers. Found centipedes crawling on our kitchen utensils in the drawer. Fridge door was broken, had to get maintenance to come fix that too. Cockroach about and inch long crawled under the wall in the bathroom when I turned on the lights. Beds were super uncomfortable and dirty. No windows in bathroom. Bathroom vent must be clogged because I can hear it but it doesn’t vent any steam. Only things I enjoyed were the ocean view, pool, and the laundry machines had soap to use. Please if you can, enjoy Maui, but stay somewhere else."
"We had a great stay at Hono Koa!!! We had two rooms between our party and both were identical and both renovated. Most condos on Maui do not have AC so this wasn’t an issue for us. The in unit washer/dryer was so handy with washing beach towels and swimsuits! I had stayed at other condos on Maui where you have to bring pretty much ALL of your supplies from dish wash soap to toilet paper but I was pleasantly surprised that Hono Koa provided it all! They provided the following: plenty of dish soap and dishwasher soap, laundry soap, hotel equivalent shampoo/conditioner/body soap, paper towels, toilet paper, complementary coffee (enough for two pots), and a fully stocked kitchen!!! I will say, this isn’t the Ritz so temper expectations, some things in the condo showed some wear and the couch wasn’t the comfiest but overall great experience."
