"Great experience staying at property twice. For those who aren't able to read, this is a time share/condo community. Full kitchen and amenities like an apartment. I love it! If you are looking for a hotel then make sure you book a resort that is managed by a hotel management company. If you want to bbq and enjoy Maui in a more non tourist way. Book here."
"We stayed here for a family vacation. There were six adults and one toddler, so we needed three separate bedrooms and bathrooms and a play pen for the baby. E403 fit the bill. It was well-equipped with washing machine/dryer, dish washer, beach gear, towels. We appreciated those amenities. We also appreciated how clean the staff maintained the grills and grounds. The grills were cleaned daily and the garbage in the garbage storage area was emptied constantly. What could use attention was the rug in the condo could use deep cleaning, there was a loose tile in the entry way that kept falling and the toilet seat in one of the bathrooms was loose."
"First I want to say that the staff was very polite and professional whether we spoke to the front desk or to Aston who over sees the condo we stayed in. We had a beautiful view of the ocean watching the whales and being greeted by a rainbow every morning from our lanai. We didn’t have an issues with parking even if we arrived later in the evening. The grounds were clean and quiet. When my husband booked a condo at this place, he said there was nothing mentioned about having to do your own laundry ( washing the towels, sheets), emptying the garbage, sweeping etc. This was our first time staying in a condo and found a set of cards with this information on it. Regarding the condo: The carpet was very stained, the furniture is old, dirty and torn in spots, the bathroom floor which is lanolium was very slippery and I almost fell twice (we used a pool towel as a rug), we did have baby roaches, so we had to take the garbage out everyday and night. The washers handle was broken so we couldn’t use the washer ( which maintenance was aware of). We were able to get towels when needed without being charged the housekeeping daily fee of $35 due to not being able to use the washer. I did send pictures and spoke to someone at Aston regarding the condo and I hope the owner does some upgrades on the place before it gets rented again. I wouldn’t mind staying here again but in a better condo next time."
"The resort is fantastic! The grounds are very well maintained along with the 2 pools, 2 hot tubs and premium Weber gas grills! Mini golf courses located by both pools. Pickle ball, tennis, shuffleboard."
"We have stayed at Papakea now multiple times, and this last time kind of put a bad taste in my mouth. We are a family of 5 (twin 4 year olds, and a 7 year old), it was our twins first time to Maui, and we were so excited to bring them along this time! They could have swam in the pools all day and been content. There was one day while we were at the pools that a gentleman came by and told our oldest "no jumping in the pool" in a very rude manor. How are you going to have multiple pools, and tell kids they cant jump into them? Not only that, we had been at the pool multiple times prior on this trip, and had seen numerous people jumping into the pool, not just kids, but adults also. It does not come off as a "family friendly" type of "resort". We haven't come across this in our multiple other stays at Papakea. If you are traveling with kids, we have discovered there are many more family friendly resorts nearby, as in right next door. Other guests loved watching our girls have the time of their lives... why be a buzz kill when people are there to have fun? Papakea, may I suggest making one of the pools more of a family friendly area?"
