"If I could give this place 10 stars I would. This one of my favorite Portland businesses and is hands down my favorite local bike shop. I have steel and aluminum gravel bikes that need servicing throughout the year. When I first moved to Portland, I relied a lot on larger shops like River City Bicycles. After finding the Golden Pliers I am not going anywhere else. The experience could not be more different than the larger shops in all of the best ways. 1. This is the best service you'll find in town. The folks here do an amazing job speaking with you about your bike, explaining the mechanics, and answering any and all questions with kindness and patience. No gatekeeping here. Every time I've brought a bike in with an issue, they've taken the time to walk me through the entire process of fixing it. As a hands-on learner with limited bike knowledge, this has been a huge learning experience. 2. Every time I bring a bike in, someone stops what they are doing and starts chatting with me about what I need. Every single time, they have put my bike on the stand and sent me on my way with all the work I needed done in a short time frame. 3. Huge wealth of knowledge among all of the folks here. I've seen them servicing everything from brand new full-suspension mountain bikes to old steel racing bikes. I'm confident I can bring anything here and it will be taken care of. 4. Price structure is very affordable and transparent. 5. The vibes can't be beat. Beer, coffee, records, product collaborations, and art. Such a beautiful and well-made space. This place inspires you to spend more time on your bike. Well done to everyone there."

"I reached out to Kevin at Golden Pliers back in March about doing a custom build-up of a beautiful Riv Sam Hillborne frame they had available in their web store. Kevin got back to me super fast, saying that they'd been planning to build it up as a complete anyway. After looking over the proposed parts list, I was stoked--I would've picked all the same gear if I'd done it myself! As the build came together and we waited for a few extra bits (racks and wheel set) to come in, Kevin was super consistent with updates and responsive to all of my questions. This was my first custom build experience so I didn't really know what to expect, but they've definitely set the bar high sky-high for communication and helpfulness. When it came time to pay and verify shipping information, Becky helped get me sorted quickly and smoothly. The bike arrived via BikeFlights in just a few days, packed professionally and securely. I was floored at how rad my new Sam looked in the photos they shared of the completed build, and I still feel that way now, looking at it standing in my living room--though now it's covered in a good layer of dirt, as it should be. I really can't say enough good things about Golden Pliers. I think it's rare for a bike shop to deliver such amazing service and stock exactly what you're looking for while still being friendly, super-knowledgable, and just as stoked on the build as you are. To put it simply, there are a lot of cool shops in the Bay Area, but I really wish Golden Pliers was my LBS. Thanks y'all!"

"My stock wheelset blew a spoke nipple a couple nights ago. I brought this rim in at opening in hopes of having the spoke replaced for a bicycle date with my friends before 2pm and they were able to replace it and true my wheel, which is now very true and very straight. The quality of the bikes and tools they are using in there are very good, prices were not the worst, the espresso was okay I had a double with a splash of milk on the rocks with a little bit of sugar I wouldn't make the trip for it but I would definitely get it every time I go there."

"Golden Pliers is such a cool spot!! Half hang out space, half bike repair and accessory shop. Beautiful bike accessories are for sale here ... Home of Makeshifter Canvas Works!! Bike repairs!! Coffee, beer and delicious baked goods!! Friendly people!! The space is bright and welcoming ... it’s a great hang out Happy Hour spot. Definitely a new favorite of mine :)"
