"I love my apartment and management! Close to a lot of great food and things to do. Maintenance is quick to resolve any issues."
"I lived there 2007-2008. We really enjoyed our time. We found management to be responsive to our needs."
"Where do I even begin? Property management is rude and neglectful of residents’ concerns. In my four years living at Bee Hat, the elevator broke a ridiculous amount of times. Once it broke minutes before my sister came to visit. She is in a wheelchair and had no other way to get upstairs. Emergency maintenance said it wouldn’t be able to fixed until the next day. The pull string to my blinds snapped and it took THREE MONTHS to have them replaced after it was reported. The lights on the outside of the building made a loud humming noise that could be heard clearly in my apartment, even over the sound of the TV. It took over TWO MONTHS to have that issue corrected after reporting. There are two washers and two dryers on each floor, but don’t count on them to work. When reported broken, it would take upwards of two weeks to have them fixed. I found myself taking the elevator or stairs floor by floor with my laundry in hand to find working machines. The apartment above mine flooded two times and dirty brown water “waterfalled” down my walls in my hallway, second bedroom, living room and kitchen. The third time water came down from the ceiling, it poured all over my couch and loveseat. It smelled like cleaner so I went upstairs to find that the maintenance man had dumped mop water across the floor in an attempt to mop faster. I requested that property management hire a company to deep clean my couch. A cleaner came in, sprinkled some powder on it, and vacuumed it… That’s it. The smell was still there. We eventually had to buy a new couch. Noise complaints were not handled by property management. They told me – and I’m not kidding – to wait outside of my upstairs neighbor’s apartment with my ear to their door to make sure the noise was coming from directly above me. My upstairs neighbor wore high heels and thick-sole heeled boots every time she walked in the door from her shifts at work. They never came off. The sound of heels on concrete floors are amplified in downstairs neighbors apartments. They once had a party, dropped a bottle of vodka, it shattered, and the vodka dripped from the ceiling – and again - onto my couch. Property management did not address the issue. Property management disregarded most of my frustrations regarding noise after “quite hours.” Finally, because maintenance failed to place a brake on the sliding barn door to the master bedroom, the handle hit the wall and broke off, stripping the previous screw holes. I moved the handle to a new spot. Upon my final walkthrough, property management said because there were holes in the door, they would have to replace the entire thing. I was charged $350 for a brand new door, only to learn from the current tenants of my unit that it was NEVER REPLACED (they texted a friend of mine still living there a picture of the same door). I moved out in February and the new tenant moved in in July, plenty of time to replace the door. Through email correspondence with the PRESIDENT of the company, he refused to refund my $350. Overall, this is a poorly run business and they have fraudulent business practices. Property management and higher do not let resident issues concern them. If you are going to pay a premium to have any issues handled, maintenance issues taken care of in a timely manner, and any amenities other than broken washers and dryers, consider living somewhere else. Downtown St. Louis offers SO much more that easily beats this place."
"From what I could find this was about the 3rd cheapest place in Downtown St. Louis that offered the space we needed. 2 bedroom 2 bathroom for $1,025 a month... you get what you pay for. The building is very old so insulation sucks, your loft will be the temperature of outside if you try to save on your heat/AC bill at all. There is chipped paint on the window panes and sloppy paint jobs all over. Also with it being an old building it’s very easy to hear your neighbors. This wasn’t too much of an issue until we have upstairs neighbors who were VERY noisy in the bedroom at all times of the day.. we could hear everything. everything. I dealt with it for awhile then just couldn’t take it anymore when they constantly woke us and our new puppy up. Called management (many times because they never answer the phone) about it and they really didn’t bother to do anything about it. The noise continued and these neighbors also continued to have wrestling parties with friends Getting so loud they rattled our apartment and I almost called the cops. If you have an issue in your apartment management takes a bit to take care off it. Then we had broken washers and driers on our floor and it took them months to fix/replace them. One of the reasons we chose to move there was because we only had to go down the hall for laundry, so that was frustrating. Bee hat Lofts also only have 1 elevator. Which isn’t a huge problem until moving in or out. It is not a freight sized elevator so good luck with your couch, our small one just barely fit. Besides all of that this place was Ok, especially for the price. It’s in a good area of downtown and the apartments are large. I did one year there and probably would have been alright doing another."
