"The physical hotel is exquisite: lobby, guest rooms, spa, restaurants, jazz club. The staff, however, is hit or miss. Some very good and attentive staff, and others who have no idea how to create an experience for guests paying $3,000 per night. We particularly had problems with staff not refilling our wine at meals, or simply ignoring us as we walked by. Intra-staff communication was poor and it took an intervention by our travel consultant to get the concierge team and spa team to respond to inquiries prior to our arrival. Aman needs a full rethink of the staff and how they are trained. Would not recommend this property at this time."
"We stayed at the hotel for 5 days. The room of choice was the Premier Suite. To begin with the suite was fantastic, and is maybe only topped by much larger suites at The Mark (the smaller ones no). Extreme comfort, spaciousness, elegant bathroom, plenty of space to rest, if you don't want to fall to bed immediately, and an up to date light and sound system. The view is only ok though, if you face W57th street like we did (you are peaking into the Tiffany's offices, which is not such a desirable view). The SPA and the gym were grand and had plenty of sophisticated treatments, and machines. However the service in general needs some serious improvement. Even after 5 days some of the staff didn't know us, had to inquire about the room number, and our names. Since the hotel was not full, we would expect them to be able to memorise names and room number the very first day, and make the guests feel at home. Well no. The breakfast service was most disappointing. Waiters kept on changing everyday, making mistakes, with the food also not of constant quality or taste. This was not just disappointing, but annoying. Aside from that the breakfast room was full with business people having their meetings everyday, discussing loudly, and cramming the space with chatter that doesn't belong into a hotel. They were not hotel guests, but members (we guessed). Maybe separating the members from the hotel guests by dedicating a special area for their breakfast would be something to consider? There is plenty of space. Lastly, the interior is not as impressive as other Aman's, being more oriented toward American idea of luxury e.g. marble style tiles instead of marble, and wooden veneer instead of wood. Nonetheless, we would definitely consider coming back when knowing that the service improved."
"I recently had the privilege of staying at Aman New York and the level of service and attention to detail exceeded my expectations. While the location of the hotel is perfect with easy access to nearby attractions, and the design of the interior is gorgeous with high end amenities, what makes Aman most unforgettable and a standout compared to other luxury hotels is the impeccable service. I traveled with two kids, and while Aman might not come across as family oriented at first glance, the hotel team was gracious in accommodating us and my kids were made to feel very welcomed, from the kid-sized bathrobes and slippers (they even provided multiple sizes to make sure it would fit), the floating boards provided at the swimming pool and the NYC-taxi-shaped cookies in the room. They also couldn’t stop talking about the yuzu-flavored welcome drinks. My husband and I enjoyed rare moments of serenity amidst the hustle and bustle of NYC. The spacious, elegantly decorated suite truly offered peace and a sense of calm and relaxation. Breakfast at Arva was lovely and service was fast and attentive. Upon departure, the gentlemen on the bell services team helped us navigate the challenging traffic condition and were so kind and thoughtful, it was difficult to say goodbye. This is my second time visiting the property. After my first visit, I provided feedback which the hotel management team took seriously and went above and beyond to make sure I enjoyed my second stay (shout out to Hotel Manager, Ms. Guia Llamas, who is gracious, responsive, and just phenomenal). I wanted to acknowledge how Aman respects their customers and I feel listened to. The team is polite, warm and the hospitality feels genuine, and I’m blown away by my experience and can’t wait for my next Aman adventure. Thank you for a wonderful stay!"
"Spent the evening watching the sun set on the terrace with incredible cocktails and food! The quality of the food is incredible, I highly recommend the bone marrow dish. Then, we went down to the jazz club where we enjoyed an incredible performance. What a wonderful experience, I just wish I took more photos!"
"Of all the hotels weve been this is one of the best. From the architecture and interior, its truly a luxury five star hotel. The ambiance and the good smell upon entering the hotel is fascinating. The room is the true meaning of serenity. Everything was perfect !!! Kudos!!!"
