The Fifty Sonesta Select New York

"Stayed here in for almost a week on vacation. First up, the pros - the room, whilst dated, was reasonably good and large, with a well appointed kitchen. Although there were minor issues with the shower, maintenance was effective and pleasant at getting these sorted. Also want to give a special shoutout to the bellhop / doorman, Sammy, who went out of his way to make us feel welcome and the housekeeping staff who were excellent. Only one really significant con - the front desk staff seem thoroughly disinterested in serving us, and seemed to treat it as a chore, during non-busy periods. One in particular seemed to be actively rude, marring an otherwise reasonably good experience. Besides that, the room was a little dark and the bathroom was small, but functional. Other comments - the price wasn’t by any means cheap, but reasonable by New York standards. I’d give 3.5 stars overall if I could."

"My husband and I have stayed here numerous times over the past year as he is receiving cancer treatments at Sloan Kettering. Each time we've stayed we have been treated with nothing but kindness from the staff. There even was an instance when my husband was unexpectedly hospitalized and we had to stay an extra few nights; the staff was wonderful and understating of our issues. Rooms are huge and we love having the kitchen which saves us so much money by grocery shopping at the near by Walgreens. All the main attractions are super close and has made an our time in NYC as pleasurable as can be, considering the reason why we stay. Only complaint is the showers have very little pressure. The street noise is to be expected, you're in NYC, not the country. It didn't bother us in the least. We'll be back in a few weeks for more treatment, but the hotel makes us happy to be there. Staff is top notch!"

"12/16/2023: This is the second time staying here while visiting NYC. The location is perfect as you are walking distance to Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, Grand Central Station, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Times Square, Central Park, and lots of other places. The staff are super friendly, helpful, and professional. Rooms are spacious and clean. Be prepared to pay extra for breakfast, but The Luncheonette is two doors down and is worth waiting for breakfast."

"Great room we are a family of 5 and the room was huge also in a great location would definitely stay there again. The staff were super friendly and great with the kids. Easy walking distance to near by subway and about 10 minutes walk to rockerfeller centre. The only one miner negative was that the room never had a view and was facing a wall but that was fine as we was out most of the time and only there to sleep and get clean."

"First time in New York & I really liked the location of this hotel. It was very convenient and close for all the places my friends and I wanted to try out. Very clean in the rooms, very spacious & loved the fact that there was a mini kitchen in our room. The customer service is a 11/10!! Front desk staff over night, not so much, but EVERYONE else was so nice and helpful! I definitely recommend this hotel!"
