Midtown West Hotel

"Do not stay here. This is by far the worst room I have ever attempted to stay in. Still fighting for a refund due to the fact things were filthy and smelled like mold and smoke. Had to leave within 30 minutes of checking in. Bed was covered in hair. Walls were dirty and stained. Furniture in room was dilapidated and cracked. TV mounted on adjacent wall and unable to see from bed. Room was uncomfortably small and hallways were a claustrophobic nightmare. No elevator in the least of the problems you will incur."

"I checked in early and the person at the desk explained the way I could open the front door. My luggage was put on a pile of other guest luggage so it was Not safely stored. There was NO ELEVATOR!! So I had to walk up (to the 4th floor) to my room on a narrow staircase that was hard to pass other guest, even without my luggage,. The room was crampt and the sink was near the bed while the shower and toilet were in a separate room. The location to Grand Central station was ok but the neighboorhood was not. I saw random people hanging out near the entrance of the hotel whom didn't seem to be guest of the hotel. The graffi on the side of the hotel with next door retail (that wasn't open when I was there) made the overall location poor. That is what I get for trying to be cheap. It was ok for a couple of days but I WOULDN'T recomend staying longer due to no elevator and neighboorhood."

"It was our first “awful hotel experience” ever. Our room was unbearably hot in the high 80’s, it felt like a sauna, the staff does not answer the front desk phone so I had to get my young son dressed at 11pm when it became hazardously hot, walk down 3 flights of stairs to get help. The front desk girl was sleeping, as she was every time I saw her.. she came upstairs and looked at the thermostat in the 3rd floor hallway which read 73.. I had to request her to come to my room to show her my room was not 73, it was in the high 80’s with the baseboard heat blazing out next to the bed. She turned on the a/c unit and walked out even though I told her the air coming out was not cold.. she was always rude, it remained just warm blowing air for the whole 2 days we had to stay, even after setting it down to 60, it made no difference. It ruined our trip as we got little to no sleep for 2 nights. My young child suffered a heat rash, nausea from the intense heat and we both had bloody noses. I did not feel safe opening the window as there was no screen. There were several flying bugs in the room and bathroom and the pillows were hard and lumpy. It was absolutely the worst hotel experience. The other staff were not quite as rude as the girl, but definitely not friendly either. The only decent part of the hotel was the location."

"This place looks like a painted over dilapidated apartment building. The exterior parts of the hotel such as hallways, entrance, etc. Give the false impression of basic amenities. There was no mini fridge, no microwave. Only a bed, nightstand, tv and a desk. The bathroom is so small. The floor was missing wood pieces, the bathroom sink was barely attached to the wall, the ceiling had water damage. The ac unit did not work and the hallway was colder than our room every got. If you are looking for bare bones-a place to sleep- then fine. It is clean! It is located near s bunch of things to do. However, if you are looking for comfort, look else where. The staff is kind and helpful and the room was cleaned. Unfortunately, I will not stay here again."

"I enjoyed my stay here. Not sure why everyone is so dramatic in the comments, You get what u pay for…This is not a five star hotel. If you need a place to sleep, shower then get back out and enjoy the city, this is for you. Yes it’s loud but it’s only from the traffic outside, what do you expect, it’s NYC. Location is great, walking distance to everything. Staff was okay, didn’t appreciate the Asian guy having an attitude with me cause I was still in the room at 11:15am . It’s a hotel…your guests sometimes sleep in! There should really be a 30 min grace period. This is hospitality after all Just a tip for everyone- **if you’re sensitive to loud noise I would suggest getting a room on the fourth floor OFF the Main Street. Just ask politely. I didn’t have an issue and it’s a little bit more quiet! Hope this helps!"
