"Just back from a two day trip to NYC and just have to recommend this great hotel. From arrival (very late on Sunday night) to my departure (4pm Tuesday with after-checkout time in the comfortable lounge), I couldn’t have been made more welcome by the friendly and courteous staff. The King room was really well laid out and cozy, brilliant shower and very comfortable double bed. I paid the extra for breakfast in the Linden restaurant which was delicious and well worth it. And the location, with easy access to uptown and downtown on the 1 subway and A line to JFK from Canal Street (if you can find the stations) is just perfect. I highly recommend this hotel for business or pleasure. So much more personal than the big chains - a real home from home."
"A glorified hostel. I live most of the year in hotels for work & travel, so I've stayed at very basic accommodation, through to high end luxury. We had booked for 6 nights to stay at Arlo Soho for our trip to New York at $335 USD p/night (to be fair I'm sure the pricing was higher than usual based on the holiday period). When we first arrived, we were given the room keys for what I was sure was the cupboard. The room was so small, that there wasn't enough room for both my partner and I to open a suitcase on the floor at one time. Honestly, it felt like a fire risk. When we went downstairs to note the size of the room, they told us that they pride themselves on being 'micro living'... a pride I was yet to see advertised anywhere. So basically they try to fit in as many rooms into one building as possible. At $330 USD per night, I was at least expecting the rooms to have nice finishes. The amenities were basic, the sheets were stiff and not soft, and the body wash/ shampoo etc were cheap. The hotel was able to move our room to an accessibility room, but still it was a very standard, if not below standard size room for the price. The only upside location was great as it was close to Canal Street where a lot of the subway lines stop at, and walking distance to Greenwich Village / Soho area. I understand that a lot of people say it doesn't matter because you hardly spend any time at the hotel, but you still want it to be somewhere you look forward to coming to rest. Clearly the marketing is good as lots of young, trendy, luxury style couples were constantly checking in at reception, but I'm sure they would be just as put off by the constant 'Retro games night' event text messages, for this weird expensive hostel."
"The front desk staff were extremely friendly, cheerful, accommodating, and kind. They are the best part of this hotel. I gave an extra star for that. They were so nice to let us check in very early. They also upgraded our room and gave us breakfast when we had to switch rooms because of a light fixture that could not be fixed. Housekeeping did a nice job too. However, the rooms felt like I was staying in a nice hostel or dorm room. The bathrooms just have tinted glass and a sliding door. There's not any privacy at all. The sink is outside. The water pressure was great though. Also, there's no closet or drawers. And, the room is the smallest that I've ever had in NYC. It is much smaller than usual. You can hear everything that goes on in the hallway or if someone is running the water in another room. (In the mornings, it can be a bit difficult to squeeze past housekeeping carts with towel shelves lining the halls.) I'd recommend it to a solo traveller or a very laid-back person if the price is right. My husband liked the room, the location, and the proximity to a restaurant. There are three bars (including a rooftop bar), a 24-hour shop with a coffeeshop, and a restaurant. The location is good. It is very walkable, and I felt safe walking back at 11 at night. There's also the perk of access to a nearby gym. The food at the restaurant was quite good. It is also next to a pizza place. The common area is huge and modern. (The facility fee is a little higher than a lot of other 4 star hotels in the city)"
"A friend and I stayed for just one night but it was amazing!! Everyone on staff was so helpful and friendly. The building is beautiful and smells really nice, the room was small but super well laid out. Beds are sooo comfy and the shower had the best water pressure. The hotel is in a convenient location too. Would absolutely stay again!"
