"I go there every 3 to 4 month to the Groomer Marrianne. I Have been going for 10 years. She does an amazing job."
"Although we only briefly lived in NH for a short time, I cannot express my gratitude enough for the staff at Salem Animal Hospital. Everyone is very understanding, knowledgeable, helpful, attentive, friendly and caring. They also followed up about one of our cats’ visits from a different animal hospital in an emergency situation. We were so touched by that. I’d also recommend their grooming dept… helped our little girl with her first hair cut to get some major mats out and she is like a kitten again at 12 years old. You are all such amazing people. Thank you."
"This is a facility that seems more worried about squeezing out an extra dollar than providing compassionate care. An example: Our cat had diabetes. They knew this. I checked his sugar right before the appointment and told them what it was. They insisted they needed to check his sugar on their monitor. Got the same result; no charge was discussed. When I got to leave they tried to slap me with a $100 charge for a sugar check that was not needed. I brought up how absurd it was and no one from management seemed to care. I've also had appointments where the vet said next to nothing to us and more or less needed the tech to run the majority of the appointment. This place has left such a bad taste in my mouth that when our pets need anything, I tell my wife ABS. Anywhere but Salem. Ugh."
"If I could give this place negative stars, I would. I have been going here for a few years and it has only became worse and worse. Similar to the post below, THEY ONLY WANT YOUR MONEY. Lets face it - vets are expensive and it is what it is; most pet owners will go to the ends of the Earth to keep their pets healthy and oh don't you worry, Salem Animal Hospital takes full advantage of that. Anyone going in for a check up or something is wrong with your pet and they try to sell you anything - look it up online. It has happened multiple times where they offer to sell me a $60 prescription when, retail it is $7 if you send it to a pharmacy. I am not unreasonable in acknowledging they need to make money to stay afloat but to charge over eight times what the product is worth is just absurd and should be considered criminal. Another example is them wanting me to buy something to help with my dogs itching and if you guessed it - again overcharging. This time is was $40 in the hospital when it retails for $15. They are corporately owned which means they don't care about your animals the same way a locally owned vet would. Needless to say I am happily switching to somewhere that will actually take care of my animal and not laugh all the way to the bank for charging over eight times what medications and products are worth."
"Had my boyfriend bring my cat to an appointment for a rabies vaccine. They administered another vaccine that I did not want her to receive at this time without my permission. My boyfriend wasn’t aware of what exactly was to happen during the appointment because I just asked him to bring her to get vaccinated. I called to voice my concern about them administering an addition vaccine that I did not schedule an appointment for and they said “we just assume that whoever brings an animal in for an appointment is the one that makes medical decisions for the pet”. So my boyfriend unknowingly said “okay” when they said they were going to be administering 2 vaccines. I wanted to speak to a a manager to discuss moving forward how they would ensure that I’m the only one that can make medical decisions on behalf of my animal. someone who wasn’t the manager left me a voicemail saying “unfortunately I talked with the manager and we cannot give you a refund on the vaccine because permission was given at the time of the appointment, if you have any questions or concerns call us” I DID NOT EVEN ASK FOR A REFUND!! It seems money was their only concern. I called back again to say I didn’t appreciate the way that they handled this, that it was very unprofessional to leave me a voicemail about a refund I didn’t even request and that a manager did not even attempt to reach out. They stated they would leave another message for the manager to reach out and the manager never did. Just really disappointed in the way they handled this situation."
