Candlewood Suites Newark South - University Area, an IHG Hotel 1101 South College Avenue, Newark, DE 19713

"I was surprised that the room had a kitchen, I wasn’t aware of Candlewood having kitchens. The rooms were ok, this is a newer construction hotel in the area. I would recommend, and highly recommend over the closest 2 other hotels. It’s a bit of a chaotic area with the construction in the area of I-95. I was disappointed in the mix up in my billing, I paid for the room on their website, $104 and some change. I get to the hotel and upon checking in I was charged $129 and the change, even though I was told I was being charged a $25 fee for incidentals. I even waited a couple of days to see if they would right their mistake, but it required multiple calls to both the hotel and customer service before it was resolved. However it was finally resolved."

"I stayed here for about a month early last year. Love everything about this place. The staff are very pleasant (especially Lorraine @ the front desk) The deposit is very inexpensive. Beds are comfy. You can do laundry anytime and for free. Its the best hotel in Newark, De."

"We booked a room for friday night and got the king suite with the additonal room. Wound up being $200 for the night, which isnt bad being most suites start at $200. The room was clean, but kind of out of date and the TV didn’t offer much varitey of channels. Wifi was great, and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. Kitchens had full pots and pans, forks/knives/strainers/bowls everything needed. Would return again but parking was very limited once night came and cupboard was limited with snacks and drinks."

"Booked a one night stay and left before the checkout time the following day. I was charged for multiple nights for over $4,000. I called and spoke to a very helpful person who recognized the error and refunded the difference to my card. Great! I’m all set. A few weeks later the $4k overcharge is back on my card. I call repeatedly and the manager says they are looking into it and will get back to me, but they NEVER do! I end up having to dispute the charge with my credit card company. One night stay for $4,000+ !!! I can wholeheartedly NOT recommend staying here."

"The staff are all awesome. They helped me when I had an emergency (cockroaches on my pillow at a cheap-o chain when I woke up) and I needed another hotel immediately. The rooms are clean and super convenient for those of us who bring our own food when we're staying for multiple days. Unfortunately, their TV could not connect to three of the channels I was interested in. It turns out that there are five channels that do not work at all; HBO, CNBC, TNT, TLC, & UKI. I could do without the stomping and banging upstairs, but I wasn't going to complain officially."
