"A literal MONTH after I booked a cabin- I get a TEXT from the company that they cancelled my reservation (2 weeks before our trip) because they had a “glitch” that allowed me to book the property/ I shouldn’t have been able to but they didn’t catch it?!? CLOWN TOWN!!! Now we have to find a 5 bedroom accommodation 2 weeks out! If I had t emailed them about an early check in, I don’t even know if they would have ever caught this??? I had a confirmation # and everything. I tried to call them too- NO ANSWER. Good luck travelers!!"

"Unpleasant Experience with Booking Changes (after arrival) Beware of overbooking and last-minute changes! Our group booked a 3-bedroom condo well (months) in advance, but our experience turned out to be far from great. Upon arrival, we followed the instructions to access our booked condo (both accessed through a garage code and a door code without issue), nestled in our belongings and then headed out for the evening. Later in the evening as we were out on the town, we received a text from the host claiming we had entered the wrong room. Our belongings had been moved without any prior notice, leaving us perplexed about how this situation occurred. How could we enter the wrong room? Our reservations clearly stated the room number and the codes given to us gained us access to the reserved room and garage space. Despite this inconvenience, we went on about our evening. When we returned to the newly assigned room, it turned out to be only a 2-bedroom accommodation. Our attempt to communicate this issue via text was met with silence from the host throughout the entire weekend. As a result, one member of our group had to make do with the sofa as an improvised sleeping arrangement for the entire weekend. Despite our efforts, the host remained unresponsive, adding to our frustration. To seek a resolution, we submitted a formal complaint to Airbnb, but as of now, there have been no concrete results. This experience has left us disappointed. We will definitely avoid this host and facility for any future stays in Traverse City. Overall, the lack of communication and last-minute changes significantly impacted our stay, and we hope that future guests can avoid similar issues."

"If I could rate them lower than 1 star I most certainly would. We rented a home for August 2024 in September of 2023. Put down 4k. This December they canceled our reservation at the home we paid for and gave us another property that was half the size and never even asked us to rent. We canceled that property right away and asked for a refund. They said we would get our money back 3-5 business days later. After not receiving our refund by the first of the year, I gave them a call. They absolutely give the run-around. Today, after my 3rd call to them, the lady acknowledged that the refund hasn't even been processed. She told me to talk to Calvin but doesn't give a way to talk to him. Extremely frustrated with them. Do not book with them direct, vrbo or with Airbnb. The only thing that went smooth was them taking our money. Getting lawyers involved now."

"We rented a 3rd floor walkup condo in Traverse City in August through Whimstay. The property looked tidy in photos, but the sheets were not clean (had dog/people hair), and the floors were grimy. Trying to get simple things resolved was futile and we were given the run-around for days. Some of these reviews seem too good to be true for True North, so buyer beware."

"Christian from True North Property Management is a problem solver. When we checked into our condo we discovered that it didn’t have a washer and dryer. We shared our concern that my daughter is here for the equestrian competitions and we need to be able to wash clothes regularly. He called to say he found a solution. More to share once he confirms the solution is in place."
