West End Towers

"We lived in West End Towers for three years. - Our first renewal was 6% - higher than we expected, but OK, we paid it - Our second renewal, they tried to increase us by an ADDITIONAL 20% - we negotiated to 8% - Our third rental, we were asked to pay an ADDITIONAL 25%, bringing the total increase since we moved in to over 40% in three years. That’s when we decided we were done doing business with this unethical company. The kicker is that when we moved in, we were explicitly told that while other buildings may offer more attractive incentives, Brodsky prioritizes long term tenancy and thus keeps increases modest. 40% in three years is absolutely criminal. and yes - they did add a new gym and resident lounge while we lived here, but lest you think that’s where the rent went - we never got to enjoy them because it would have cost us an additional $150 a month to get access. On top of the many thousands we already paid. We moved out three months ago, and I now see our apartment listed at $300 less than what our renewal offer was for (and that’s after, I assume, they’ve made renovations.) It is abundantly clear they’re trying to lure in the next tenant only to slam them with obscene increases year after year."

"Was helping a friend do some apartment hunting. Just wasn't the right fit for her budget over $3,000 for a studio is ridiculously expensive... I'm better off buying a house. All these luxury buildings popping up everywhere are becoming a standard choice for people. No wonder people are trying to leave the city."

"This apartment building is fine, but don't expect to make it your home for long. Over the last year, we have had constant leaks in our bathroom and had maintenance in our apartment multiple times to patch and paint, but they never would fix the source of the leak until we finally threatened to take legal action. I hate to think what the mold situation is under all those layers of paint after a year of water sitting in the ceiling. Now they are hiking our rent up 25%, which seems retaliatory and cruel."

"Quiet and spacious. Good to have a large park in front of the building. A little bit too far away from the subway station. Pet friendly. The gym is not included in the amenities and need additional membership. The building was built more than 20 years so the amenities are not like the luxury building nowadays. Residents look polite and nice. Overall, the building is good comparing to the price."
