"Only good thing about this hotel is its proximity to times square. Only 2-3 minutes. The street its on always had shady people hanging around at night. We stayed for 4 nights-3 days Late Jan 2024. The bathroom door would not fully close. It would slowly open. The size of the room was small as its normal for nyc. Two elevators, but only one was working. And on the weekends, the rooftop bar is busy, so we had to wait because the elevators were so busy. Front desk was okay, not nice but not mean. Just not caring.Only nice thing about this hotel was the compl bar and comp $25 credit. The pictures on google make the place look modern, it just has a dingy feel to it. Do not rec, will never stay here again."

"Such a great hotel! Lots of fun people to chat with at the upstairs or downstairs bars. The hotel had great views and was close to all the action. A great place to stay if your going to broadway. Santiago at the bar served a delicious expresso Martini. Brandon was extremely helpful in giving suggestions and understanding the hotel floors. In the morning Alfred served up strong and frothy cappuccinos with a grin. Thank you Hotel Aliz for a great stay! We will be back."

"Hotel rooms are tiny and beds are doable not queen or king in most other hotels in the city. Enough for a quick city break but not great if you have a stay longer than a few days. It was a tight squeeze as a family of 4 with 4 cases!! The hotel staff aren't great, everyone there was so unprofessional and rude. Only 1 lady was helpful the entire stay and to be frank I had to wait 15 minutes for her to stop flirting with a colleague before she acknowledged me anyway. The manager was useless and even when I rang the reception desk as someone was trying to get into my room it took him half an hour to come and investigate. Even after he appeared there was no remorse. The only pro was that the location was incredible. The view from the room was amazing. Their rooftop bar is supposed to be a great view, although we were refused up there as we had children despite only wanting to go to see the view. The whole check out and leave your luggage was just an absolute shambles and the whole hotel just felt way too laid back for a business to run properly."

"One day before our arrival our room got cancelled since they overbooked the bigger rooms and we had to take two smaller ones instead (which were 1000$ more expensive). The receptionists were really unfriendly and unhelpful. They didn't seem to care about this problem and didn't offer anything to make up for their mistakes. On the first night (30.12.23) there was also a fire alarm - we were not informed what the problem was and when calling the reception no one answered. We didn't get an explanation, apology or anything for this awful sleepless night. The rooms were tiny - we couldn't even use our suitcases properly. The service was terrible. We had no slippers, only 1 bathrobe and if you wanted a second one you had to pay about 100$ for using that. They had no tea and the service was super slow. This is partly because of the elevators. There were 3 which were used by hotel guests, staff as well as visitors of the rooftop bar. Getting to your room sometimes meant waiting in the lobby for 10+ minutes. All in all, the only good thing about this hotel was the location. For the price we paid, I would definetely recommend looking for another hotel with better service and friendlier staff."

"I stayed at the Aliz Hotel for NYC Marathon weekend for a three-night stay. I had high hopes for this hotel as I have had a couple of great stays at another Independent Collection hotel. Unfortunately, our stay was incredibly disappointing. To start off, I never received an email confirmation upon booking. The day before arriving, I called to confirm my reservation, and the gentleman on the phone responded as if I had asked him to do brain surgery. We were able to smoothly check in despite the woman at the front desk looking like she would rather be anywhere else. I learned after checking out that every guest is offered a $25 restaurant credit and two free drinks at the bar, but this was not offered to us for some reason. We then walked over to the elevators where we experienced absolute chaos every single time. There are only three elevators which resulted in a crowd of at least 30 people waiting several minutes for an elevator to arrive. There was also a host in the lobby who was letting people who were going to the rooftop bar onto the elevator before actual hotel guests, which was super frustrating. I wish I could say that the room was nice but it was incredibly small, smelled like sewage, and there were flies everywhere. There were barely enough toiletries for one person, let alone the two of us, and the coffee pods provided were decaf only (what's the point?). The location of the hotel was very convenient to getting around the city, but there are several other hotels on this same block, so I would recommend staying at any of those instead."
