Reviews
"We booked here for our first trip to NYC and I was worried after reading the early reviews. Well, I'm glad we stuck it out because our experience was excellent. We had no issues whatsoever with the elevators: they were easy to navigate and we almost never waited. The room was new, clean, and met our needs well. The size was comparable to rooms we've had in Chicago, Paris, and Rome, and larger than those we've had in London. The lobby was crowded, but why eat the hotel breakfast when you have some of the best food in the world a short walk away? The location was fantastic - very easy access to subway stops and a quick walk to Times Square. The only negative that I can acknowledge is that we did have a fire alarm go off around 1:00 AM on our last night. Obviously not ideal. We visited over MLK weekend, so not exactly peak season, and it's possible that a lot of the early kinks have been worked out. I can only share our experience, and I'd book here again without hesitation."
"The location must be the biggest factor working for this hotel. Happened to visit hotel during the busiest time of the year, that’s seemed to have too much stress on the staff so hats off to them for working through the holidays and delivering excellent service. Free breakfast was a good add-on and was adequate / nothing fancy. Coming to room, would have preferred more frequent room service. Lift wait times during peak hours can be crazy! Overall, nothing too negative but personally would avoid during the holidays to beat the rush."
"As a Hilton diamond member, I was very skeptical about staying here due to all the negative reviews. We stayed from 12/19-12/23. First, yes the rooms are small, that’s normal for most hotels in NYC. Upon arriving, a hotel host kindly took me up to the room to make sure I was aware of the size of the room and pullout couch. Since my children are small this was not an issue. If you have big kids or older kids I suggest purchasing two separate rooms, because the sleeper sofa is the size of a slightly wider twin size mattress. I did notice when pulling it out there were crumbs and hair on the sheets, so gross! There was also makeup smeared on the pillowcase—disgusting! I tried calling down to front desk but the phones down there apparently don’t work! Disappointing! My husband went down there and they said someone would be up, after an hour and a half no one ever came. At this point it was midnight, so I took matters in my own hands and took the dirty sheets off and remade the sleeper sofa with the fresh sheets provided in the cupboard. Frustrating after a long day of travel but whatever. There was only one evening where the shower didn’t produce hot water, other than that it was hot for the most part of our stay. We did not hear the fire alarm go off at any point during our stay. The HVAC going on and off every few minutes was slightly irritating but not to the point where things were miserable. The modern elevators were annoying during mad rush times, I suggest choosing a room from one of the the lower level floors, so you can utilize the stairs. Breakfast is pure chaos during rush times. I took a bag down and filled it up with breakfast items for my husband and kids. Overall it was an “okay” stay. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but I wouldn’t stay here again. I’ve definitely stayed in better equipped Hilton hotels. The location is what is going to keep this hotel going."
"Things to note; I was a solo traveler with minimal luggage & an understanding that NYC has A LOT OF PEOPLE and sounds. I stayed Friday through Monday. Room- Comfortable bed. Wonderful tiny equipped kitchen. Plenty of counterspace. Ample closet and drawer space. Ventilation was a little loud when it came on, it was a non-issue for me. Room temperature was comfortable, though I never fiddled with the thermostat. The alarm went off Friday night. They were quick to announce that it was a false alarm. Elevators- Moved pretty quickly for me. I could see how having a lot of luggage/people in your group might impact a review of the elevators but for me- they were great! Breakfast- Each morning I went between 6:30a and 7:30a. There were plenty of delicious options and never a line. Every interaction with staff members was enjoyable and I very much enjoyed my stay!"
"To be fair, I think the hotel is trying to improve as it goes. As many have complained about the confusion of the elevators, on the last day of our stay we saw the elevators are labeled. The ventilation and the false fire alarm in the middle of the night are truly the annoying factors. I hope they can be corrected soon. The breakfast time is super busy but during my one week stay it never ran out of food. Simple choices but it has the major items like eggs, sausages, cereals, fruit...The main dining area is packed but the basement is empty. Maybe a sign indicating more seating downstairs would help? So people don't have to jam at the reception area. Other than that I think this is a good hotel. If you book early, the price is fair. The location is super convenient in Times Square and the window blocks quite a bit of the noise from outside (unfortunately not the false fire alarm). The room is small but this is Manhattan. I would minus 1 person of what they suggest cause even though there's enough space to sleep but there won't be space for the luggage. I appreciate the small kitchen unit with a microwave and a decent size fridge for our one week stay to store extra food. The shower is not strong but the hot water comes instantly and is consistent. The bath products are decent that we actually used them during our stay."
