"*Extremely Disappointing Experience - A Warning to Others* Unfortunately, our experience at this hotel was nothing short of a disappointment. Allow me to provide a detailed account of our stay. We had planned a special getaway for my girlfriend and me, and despite the steep price of $700 for one night, we expected to have a luxurious, clean, and comfortable room. Upon arrival, we were informed that our room wasn't ready, even though we arrived two hours past the check-in time. To add to the frustration, the hotel directed us to the wrong parking lot, denying us the promised discount. When we got back, a man was in the lobby saying that due to wrong room key programming, someone had wandered into his room while he was naked, he was furious. Once we finally gained access to our room, we were shocked to find that it was incredibly small. To make matters worse, the headboard had stains, the wood paneling above the bed was oily, and the wallpaper was peeling off. After voicing our concerns, the hotel staff changed our room. While the new room had a terrace, it's disheartening that we had to go through such an ordeal to get what we paid for initially. Regrettably, the issues persisted, with wallpaper still peeling and black mold present on the bathroom ceiling. During a visit to the lobby, I overheard an insensitive comment from one of the front desk staff, which added to our overall negative experience. Basically, the African American front desk woman (this was last night, December 1st) said that I better not complain again. I “better not call about s***”. Such unprofessional behavior is unacceptable. In all honesty, this hotel is far from satisfactory. It resembles more of a rundown motel, and the condition of the elevator left me genuinely concerned for my safety. I strongly believe that this place should undergo extensive inspection by health authorities or be shut down entirely. Fellow travelers, please be aware of these issues before considering in any way a stay at this establishment."
"4 star?! Warning. It’s more of a motel. Besides location all rooms smell like weed or smoke. The design and decor terrible. Bed comfort terrible. Sheet ms dirty. Along with $200USD hidden fee, paid at the hotel. Very creepy. The floors are uneven."
"The stay was good, the location was excellent, but the morning bellman was extremely rude. I wanted to store my luggage and he asked what time I will be collecting them. I said around 5 pm to which he stated he might not be there. I asked if that's an issue, he said he might sell the bags. I know bellmen expect a tip, but I am not going to tip a bellman who says he's gonna sell my bags (he also asked me to bring the bags to the locker room, which is fine, but I tip less in these cases). Later that day I collected the bags, and the evening bellman was extremely polite - opened the doors, brought the bags, politely greeted - everything a bellman should do - and I did tip him. The next day, I again stored the bags in the morning, same bellman same behavior. He again threatened that he might sell the bags. Basically he was expecting a tip because he wouldn't be on duty when I return, which is his problem, not mine. Moreover, if a bellman is threatening to sell my bags, I will never tip him. He also said "Are you new to NYC? Too many newcomers in NYC". He also left my bags in the corridor for about 10 minutes (I know this because I went to the rest room in the lobby). We came back in the evening and the evening bellman had a tough time finding our bags, since he had shuffled them across rooms. Tips are earned by the way you behave, and are not to be given by default. Having such a bellman is extremely unwelcoming for the hotel. I'm sure the management will want to take some action here. The two ladies at the reception in the evening were very sweet and helpful. They heard my concerns and asked me to post a review. But the lady in the morning (a different lady) definitely would have heard these comments as the bellman was very loud in letting me know that he'll sell my bags. One would hope that she would intervene here. Basically, I would recommend this hotel jusy because of it's location, but good luck not having your bags stolen (or "sold") with such a morning bellman."
"Perfect location! The beds and pillows were very comfortable and although the room was small for 5 it was perfect for sleeping. The bathroom was roomy. The only thing that was missing was a coffee maker or kettle with some tea. The grab and go offered was great for a quick coffee and bite as you venture out in the big apple. There were issues with the elevators during our stay. Highly recommend!"
