“This is the best pub I have discovered this century. Period. Steve, the bearded manager, was super friendly, humorous and could not do enough to advise on the beers and history of the place but also, importantly for us, transport home. He could not have been more accommodating and delightful. What enthusiasm! The like of which I haven’t seen from a publican or staff member in a pub in decades.”

“We were family and friends of 8 with my 6 month granddaughter. This was the first time I had been to this pub, my son in law knows it well. From start to finish it was a great experience. “A great location situated right on the river with an upstairs terrace decorated nicely. The food looked like it had come from a Michelin star chef and tasted like it too! Our evening was made by the friendly staff who went out their way to accommodate us and invite us back. Shall definitely be returning!”

“I am not normally a burger lover but I like these because the Cask Pub & Kitchen uses quality locally sourced patties. Pavement seating for out door dining plus rarely seen draft craft beers and real real ales make this a perfect pre theatre venue. Less than 10 mins walk from Wicked or Hamilton”

“Popped in for a Sunday roast and was very impressed! Staff really friendly and welcoming, and a good range of beers. Sitting by the window with the rain pouring down was cosy. I had roast pork belly which was a generous portion, tender and well seasoned. Really tasty gravy, and we were offered extra part way through demolishing our meals. A real contender for best roast locally alongside the Prince of Wales - I’ll certainly be back.”

“Now this was the highlight of the day. I can't recommend it enough. A really old fashion pub, it even has a saloon bar and an excellent barman too. I would have happily stayed there much longer than we did. Decent prices, nice atmosphere and nice beers. Looking forward to going back.”

“Went here on a trip from peterborough to see our son and daughter in law, been looking forward to it since it has been done up. The truly traditional makeover is brilliant, little snugs, great choice of beers, staff so friendly and dog friendly, even a nice traditional fireplace. Not normally a sports pub as such I an told even though though back to the days of the West Ham games, but FIFA World Cup screened at the moment. We all had a meal too, not Michelin but it is pub grub after all , the Chicken Kiev was not good, Pork chops great and fish and chips average.. however just a great experience and place overall.”

“Have not been to the rose and crown in over 2 years because of covid. We visited sunday. Was so nice to see Karen and john. Such a friendly village atmosphere. Lovely warm log fire. Me and my husband had roast lamb. The lamb melted in your mouth one of the best roast dinners we have had in a long time. We was very lucky to be fitted in as it was very busy so I would advise to book. Looking forward to our next visit.”

“Very homely tiny pub with a very nice interior and a feel to it. Has a traditional pub-cum-dive bar feel to it with a good old smell of stale beer and alcohol soaked curtains flirting with mould. :) Really cool intimate place. Will definitely be bringing people here. Very unique.”

“Lovely comfy room (we had twin). Not plush, but comfy. Slept well. Spacious en suite. Lovely& clean. We hope to return. So lovely! Good breakfast menu. Lovely friendly staff, very attentive. A good old pub/inn with lovely inglenook fireplace. Didn't want to leave & return to reality.”
