The River Ale House

● Open

“Love this place! This is the first micro pub I've been to and I absolutely love it! Nice and cosy. Encourages talking to each other. Beers are excellent, well-chosen and kept, and *very* reasonably priced. Decent cider too. My new favourite pub in Greenwich, along with The Pelton Arms, and closely followed by The Crown.”

The Kentish Belle Ale House & Gin Palace

● Closed
8 Pickford Lane, Welling DA7 4QW, United Kingdom

“Just wanted to update on my old review. As always a great selection of cask, keg and ciders plus the more exotic cans and bottles in the fridge. From IPAs to sours and stouts, the Belle has it all. They do have a wide selection of gins and mixers too so if that's your bag you'll be satisfied with what they've got.”

Hand in Hand

● Open
6 Crooked Billet, London SW19 4RQ, United Kingdom

“This is definitely one of my favourite pubs in the Wimbledon area, it’s so nice in the summer months and nice and cozy inside in the winter. Being part of the Youngs pubs in the area I’m surprised they have so many, and they survive, but I’m glad to say they are surviving. They always have a nice selection of beers, today we had a proper local ale the “Wimbledon Brewery Pale Ale” which is such a great local brewery. They had a nice warm fire burning, but due to our timing we needed to sit out side and they have a great out door area. I can’t comment on what the food is like at present, but historically I have always felt satisfied, but like all the youngs pubs in the area, especially compared to my locals it is slightly punchy. For example 3 beers and a pint of Diet Coke came to £21 I’ve included a picture of the toilets as a lot can be said about a pubs toilets, and these were nice and clean and well maintained. Our only gripe is that the glasses were a little dirty, it looked like the dishwasher filter needed changing. Not enough to complain about and embarrass ourselves. It looked like lemon or lime fragments, which I’m not so precious I had to take my pint back and complain about.”

The Old Ale Emporium

● Open
405 Green Lanes, London N4 1EU, United Kingdom

“Ales always in great condition and usually up to 3 available on hand pump, and reasonably priced, which is rare these days outside of Wetherspoons. Good juke box, which is also rare these day. Good buzzy atmosphere. Could possibly benefit from a bit of air conditioning though”

The Hop Inn Micropub

● Open
122 North Street, Hornchurch RM11 1SU, United Kingdom

“As you maybe aware I’m a big foodie who loves dining out in the finest of restaurants. But when it comes to choosing wine we either go for the countries that we know or we leave it to the recommendations of the sommeliers. So with this in mind we wanted to broaden our horizons let’s say by learning more about wine in general ie taste , smell , tannins , acidity etc. with the additional knowledge of knowing what wine wine is good value for money and which style of wine goes with which style of food. So we gave it some thought and approached our good friend and drinks expert Alison Taffs at the Hop Inn Hornchurch our local micro pub to see what she thought and because it was only going to be the two of us if it would be worth her while. But after a little chat we discussed a budget so it would make her time and effort worthwhile. We gave her a couple of weeks to put together a format and gather some wines to taste and talk about. This led us to sunday when our tasting would take place. We arrived at the Hop Inn and our table was laid out in the corner. You could see straight away that Alison had put a lot of effort into this to which we were very grateful. She had laid out tasting note sheets , an iPad screen displaying various information and a list of the six wines we would be tasting. She decided that we should keep the discussion to european wines and in particular Portugal , France , Austria & Germany. Her knowledge was incredible as she guided us through the different stages of tasting wine. This begins with appearance which will include the colour. This is followed by smell , condition , intensity and the character. Then it’s time to taste to find out if the wine is sweet or dry as well as how much acidity , length , body and tannins. To finish you would decide what type of food you would match the wine with. We followed this by talking about pricing and what wines from specific regions when you look at a wine list are good value for money. This information really was invaluable and will certainly help us in the future. We’d personally like to thank Alison for a fabulous wine tasting afternoon. To listen to her knowledge and passion really was a pleasure and we definitely got more out of this than we first thought. I would highly recommend if your interested in wine to arrange a session yourselves whether your a couple like us or a larger group you will certainly benefit from her vast experience in the industry. We’re certainly looking forward to booking another session with her soon”

The Plum Tree - Beer Shop

● Open

“Excellent beer from the cask. Always a decent selection that changes. They also have an area for the enjoyment of beer outside. Apparently they also serve decent wine and 'craft beer'.. so you could take a friend who likes that kind of thing.”

Old House

● Open
Redwell Lane, Ightham, Sevenoaks TN15 9EE, United Kingdom

“A friendly, off-the beaten track local pub, serving great ales direct from the cask. Very traditional interior, and the locals are engaged in funny conversations and banter. This was a great pit stop on our long walk. I think this was how all pubs used to be - a genuine meeting place rather than somewhere to extract money out of you - I hope it never changes!”

Tap Sidcup

● Open
3 Wellington Parade, Sidcup DA15 9NB, United Kingdom

“So impressed with this little pub!! I’ve driven past loads and felt like it deserved a visit. It’s less ‘micropub’ and more ‘classy bar’ vibes. Great music and amazing selection of drinks. They actually have taps on the tables with iPads where you can fill up your own cocktails or beers, what a super concept! The decor is sublime as it gives the impression you are in a holiday destination rather than in a pub in Blackfen. The icing on the cake was when I went to the ladies. Never have I ever been in an establishment where sanitary products, perfume and hair spray are provided, without the looky looky lady! I’ll definitely be returning. Thank you”

Noble Green Wines

● Closed
153-155 High Street, Hampton Hill, Hampton TW12 1NL, United Kingdom

“Brilliant service! We were looking for a specific bottle of Nebbiolo that we had in Florence last week and the few suppliers that had any in stock were suggesting 7 days for delivery at anywhere upwards of £5. Not only did these guys have the exact bottle we were looking for, but they delivered locally within in 2 hours of placing the order on the same day, for free! Will definitely be using them again. Thank you.”
