"Robyn was the selling agent on our recent home purchase. She failed to list the property as pending until 8 days after we were under contract, in violation of MLS rules. When our agent inquired about this, Robyn was non-responsive. She continued to show the house after we were under contract, presumably to collect back up offers during our inspection period. Because of all of this, we felt pressured by the selling agent/sellers to either accept the house as is with no ability/leverage to negotiate any repairs, or to walk away with our earnest money. We have bought and sold houses in the past and never struggled with such difficult sellers. We don’t know how much of the challenges with this home purchase are attributed to difficult sellers, rather than their agent. Regardless, the net effect of these interactions was that we did seriously consider backing out of contract during the inspection period, taking our earnest money and searching for a different home. Perhaps this would have been in the sellers’ best interest — perhaps they had a better backup offer. But it made the process stressful, confusing, and not at all transparent for us."
