"8 reasons you should not live here 1. For starters, the building is completely warped. The building has a steam powered water heating system in the basement which has caused the cheap pine floors to warp and distort so there isn’t a unit with level floors. Doorways are crooked. 2. Cockroaches and other bugs are out of control especially in the summer. You cannot leave a single dirty dish in the sink or you’ll get dozens of roaches on it within 10 seconds. It’s truly disgusting and saddening because I love to cook and I feel like my food will be unsafe to eat because it could either have a roach in it or bug spray. 3. Electric appliances are way outdated and inefficient. The refrigerator in my Unit is probably 20 years old. The electric stove is also 20 years old. The Swamp cooling unit is probably 50 years old. Your electric bill for your tiny one bedroom (that’s all they have) will be bigger than the bill for an efficient 3 bedroom house. I’m currently paying $50-60 every month on electricity even though I’m very conscious of using as little electricity as possible. 3. Poor lay out design. Feng shui is negative. 4. Loud loud loud! Coal is a busy street. I live in a unit facing away from Coal but the sound of traffic is nevertheless a loud LOUD constant. I don’t mind the droves of homeless people walking around the Salvation Army next door nor do I mind the homeless veteran who yells profanity in his sleep below my window. 5. Did I mention Cockroaches? 6. The Single pane windows most of which are nearly painted shut but somehow sound like they are wide open. They are inneficient windows. When it’s windy outside, you can feel dust making its way into your home through the window. You have to dust a lot. A LOT. If you have a computer you’ll have to open it up and air dust 2 times a week because it accumulates very quickly which can kill your computer. 7. Limited parking. You end up having to park on the street a lot if you get off work late. 8. The bathroom sink let’s out these “sewage burps” that stink up your bathroom . I’ve lived in two separate units at this place, They are grossly overpriced for the low quality living, and low quality tenant service and downright poor treatment of tenants by Deacon Management and the Owner. Currently paying $630 for a 600ish sq. ft."
