Reviews of The Briar Rose Inn
"My wife and I had a lovely stay here over the weekend. Sally and Ted were great hosts and their welcoming dog Gracie really added to the experience. Can’t recommend this place enough if you’re staying in the area. Great location, charming historic home, well appointed rooms. I specifically wanted to call out the breakfast, meticulously prepared by Ted. Fresh fruit and yogurt with house made granola , baked French toast, eggs and bacon with fresh OJ and coffee. Fantastic. Heck, we would come here just for the breakfast :)"
"This is possibly the best vacation stay I have ever had. I would come back JUST to stay at this BnB. The house and it's owners are incredibly charming. Ted and Sallie go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome and warm. We had a fantastic breakfast and great conversation with Ted each morning. They made sure we were comfortable and went out of their way to give us recommendations and directions- but also made sure to give us space to explore and have privacy. You may run into the Queen of the house, Gracie, who is the cutest spaniel mix and just loves attention. I cannot emphasize more the attention and love these two give to their home and their guests. We stayed in the lavender room (I believe) and it was decorated to the nines. The en suite restroom had enough towels and was stocked with the essential shower things like shampoo and conditioner. The room also included water and earplugs. The bed was comfortable and had plenty of blankets. The stairs are a tiny bit creaky, but it is an old house. We didn't have any issues hearing others from within our room, but the earplugs were a nice plus for those sensitive folks. Downtown Vancouver is very walkable and is fairly easy to get to Portland via Public transport or Uber. I really enjoyed exploring the Old fort area and the new waterfront. I don't think I would bother staying anywhere else if they have the availability. 10/10 absolutely wonderful stay, I would love to bring my family back here."
"An unbelievably charming place with even more charming and kind hosts! Sallie and Ted spare no kindness or comfort in this beautiful old home turned B&B from homemade breakfasts, local tips to the city and lovely company. Every nook and cranny is beautifully decorated and lovingly restored and best of all is the lady of the house, Gracie the Spaniel. Worth every penny and more, this is the only place worth staying in the Vancouver/Portland area ❤️"
"The most beautiful and magical B&B experience. If you love old houses with lively conversation over good breakfast, this is your place. Sallie and Ted are extraordinary hosts. They accommodate to their guests so effortlessly, you feel like you’re home away from home. Sallie recommend a great little Thai spot called Thai Orchid for lunch since we got in early and it was really great Thai food! They also have a sweet pup who you might see occasionally on her morning walk. We stayed in the French inspired room and the attention to detail really puts it over the top. The house has several books around the house worth reading. Fair warning the stairs to get to the room are on the steep side and very loud (old house duh) so coming and going, you do have to tread lightly but the good news is we barely heard anything inside our room! Parking is located behind the house, we were grateful we didn’t have to pay for parking. We can’t wait to come back and stay here again. We explored so much of downtown, waterfront street and their weekend farmers market. The food nearby is great! Highly recommend."
