"We all know this place is overpriced ie. Aldens ice cream here is $15 while three blocks away at whole foods it is $10. Limited on inventory and down right nasty people. If you are of color you will be followed by a 6'5" monster who makes no secret that he is following you and watching you. No matter where I went there he was..The focus of his racism and this racist notion that people of color are thieves is so bkstant its like a constantsmack in the face. It doesnt matter that they know I don't steal this harrassment has been ongoing for a year. I have been subjected to illegal searches of my bag and when I protest I am blocked from leaving against my will until i allow it. The manager has admitted to the racism. While still saying he wants me as a customer actions scream he doesntvwant a lawsuit and we are beyond that.He has gone out of his way to humilate me and when I confronted them again about the racial profiling, the illegal search of my bag..I was forced to allow the illegal search betas they blocked my ability to leave the store until i conceded. This is a civil rights violation and they need to stop banning people, doing illegal search and seizures, holding one against their will and using security to intimidate and threaten your well being. The last time i was there as i was being stalked I smiled as I watched a white patron stick a bottle of wine in their purse. I hope they got an expensive one!! The security guard claims his just doing his job (which includes intimidation and threats) but given that statement who's responsible for the profiling. While I cannot by law call someone a racist but when you tell someone (the general manager Jason) to their face that their behavior leads one to believe they are racist and they never deny, it well come to your own conclusion. I just read another review where they banned another shopper. I'm curious as to her race. There are laws against this horrendous behavior and it starts with a BOLI which is in the process of being filed and notarized. I have kept in depth documentation of their violations of my rights as a woman of color and the blatant racist behavior and hostility I have encountered since I first stepped in their doors. I look forward to seeing World Market answer to the Civil Rights Division. It's time they pay figuratively and literally. Please contact me if you have had racial issues at this place. "I LOVE this market! I work in the neighborhood and have been coming here at least once a week for the past couple of months since discovering it. Reasonable prices, EXCELLENT customer service. A couple recurring purchases have been the house made chocolate cake and prepped salmon and rice dish. Won't be returning to Whole Foods since finding this gem."
