Extended Stay America - Orange County - Brea

"i will preface this by saying all of the employees i dealt with during my short stay have been extremely kind and helpful. they were all happy to help whenever an issue came up. that being said, i did not enjoy my stay at this hotel at all and would never recommend it to anyone i know or don't know. i got in fairly late after long day of traveling from the east coast so all i wanted to do was sleep and get some rest. after checking in i immediately got into bed but there were children screaming and jumping around making all kinds of noises into the night. the walls are paper thin; i could hear our neighbors whispering let alone children screeching at the top of their lungs from who knows how many doors down. the next morning i rushed out the door to get to an important meeting and noticed that the ground and mat outside of the elevator had feces and urine, presumably and hopefully from a dog, all over it. it appeared as if someone had attempted to "clean" the mat but instead smeared the feces into the ridges. this was unsanitary beyond belief. it's absolutely wonderful that extended stay allows pets but there should be rules about where the animals may or may not relieve themselves. i came back later that night after a long day and desperately needed a shower, however, the showerhead was not properly fastened to the wall and water was spraying EVERYWHERE when i switched modes. the ceiling, the floor, the entire bathroom was soaking wet from the amount of water that violently sprayed out from the wall. the staff member available was extremely helpful, understanding and sympathetic and got me into another room as quick as possible which i was very grateful for. unfortunately, the new room had a pile of dog feces waiting for me outside of the door, which again, is disgusting and should never be something anyone finds at a hotel where people are supposed to walk. the card reader on the door was also having difficulties; i had to insert my card a few times for it to recognize it. they claimed it was a battery issue and would be replaced the next day while i'm out. the next morning i got up and as i was using the bathroom i noticed that there were patches of black spots on the ceiling above the shower. i did not notice them last night while i was showering due to how tired i was but it was clear as day what it was. it makes me feel sick knowing i was living in a room that exposes guests to black mold. it did not seem like anything went right at extended stay. after finding the black mold i immediately checked out and found myself another hotel. i regret ever picking this chain and wished i had stayed far away from it. i only stayed 2 nights out of the 7 i had originally booked; i can only imagine what more i would find if i stayed there any longer."

"Good location and close to Honda Center and other venues, but no one was at the front when we tried checking in after our event and were waiting for 10+ minutes, most outlets and lights in our room were out of service as well as TV, and found a used hair tie on the floor. Room was rather smelly for ‘just cleaned’ and advise you stay elsewhere if in the area"

"Never will I stay there again. The lobby floor was filthy. That should've been the time to leave but no. The hotel rooms need serious upgrades. The bathroom felt dirty, the tub felt like it was falling in. There was water damage in the ceiling. They advertise continental breakfast but there wasn't any the five days I was there. Just coffee. I couldn't wait to leave."

"Our stay here was pretty awful. There was next to no parking when we arrived, and then we waited at the front desk for about 15 minutes before someone was available to check us in. The lady at the front counter was a bit abrasive and short with us for questioning why she had to make copies of our IDs if we had a credit card on file. She gave us the information for our room, and it was pretty terrifying. There was hair in the trash can, floor, and bed, blood on the floors, and many miscellaneous stainings around the room. Our shower also was missing chunks out of the tub and was leaking consistently. The door was also extremely chewed up (I'm assuming by a dog). I called the front desk and let her know of all of this and she offered to let us switch rooms, but it was so late in the night and we were only staying for a night so we didn't take her offer. The bed was pretty awful, we could feel the springs from the mattress and they poked you as you moved. The air conditioning unit was extremely loud. The hotel is in a nice area, but there were a lot of loud guests (one guest was revving his motorcycle at 2 in the morning) and some very questionable blood stains along the stairwell. Overall, I would never stay here again."

"Booked a five night stay and got in close to midnight. The first night was miserable. The bathroom showed significant wear and the floor was water damaged. The bed had a broken frame. I didn't realize how bad the problem was until I was nearly dumped on the floor. I went to the desk to get the room changed. New room was better but... Cracked and split upholstery, the CO2 detector was missing, and the smell of smoke/weed kept intruding from somewhere. At least the roaches were not too bad. I only saw about 2 a day."
