"Our rent was increased roughly 80% starting August 2024. The maintenance is absolutely horrible. We have waited weeks to get an icemaker properly repaired. And just last night there was a dryer fire next door. The entire apartment was soaked in water by the fire department to put the fire out, and our apartment has water in it and we had to evacuate. The fire department was not able to reach the "24-hour maintenance line". When we moved in in August 2023, the entire kitchen faucet assembly was loose enough to where you could literally lift it up off the countertop. That took a couple of weeks to get someone to fix. Stay away from this place!"
"DO NOT live here!!! While some (very, very few) aspects of the commons are nice, if anything at all goes wrong… good luck getting the issue resolved. Responses from the staff require relentless notice/ MULTIPLE complaints to even be checked on at the least. The quality of the units are subpar, the public areas of the complexes are dirty and seldom cleaned, the noise that carries from neighboring units feels like the walls/ floors are made of paper, utilities are always INSANE (even when the apartment was vacant during times my roommates and I were not home for weeks), and so much more. Not to mention the roach infestations! Seemed great at first, but everyone I’ve heard from who has lived here has felt the same way after experiencing living here. Wish we would have listened to others similar experiences before signing!"
"The staff here is amazing. So nice! But, maintenance here sucks. Put in multiple requests for them to fix our washer & the internet for the Bridge location. People have come out, but nothing has been fixed. And they haven't come to fix the garage door on the 11th st entrance to the Bridge location. And, it gets loud here during the weekends, so dont expect to get any sleep! So glad this is my last lease here! So ready to leave!"
"The renewal process here was absolutely terrible. The rent went up 50% even though we requested the renewal before the 9/25 deadline. All roommates wanted to stay together and were unable to because the rent increased daily -and for those who got leases later, the rent was almost double what we were paying this year! We were very communicative with the leasing agents - they knew we wanted to all renew together but they gave everyone leases at different times and for different amounts. They completely ruined next years living arrangements. Disgusted by this entire situation. TN needs to have regulations to protect tenants from this nonsense! College kids can’t pay 1500-1800 a month for a bedroom!!! Do better TN. I would not recommend anyone attend UTK because of this housing situation. Nor would I recommend the Commons! And, by the way, the place is mediocre at best and in no sane world should they be charging over 5000.00 a unit! It’s honestly a joke! No pool, no game room, no jacuzzi’s, barely a gym, etc!"
"My daughter has lived in both the 4 BR/4 BA unit and the 1BR/1 BA unit. My husband spoke with Emily a couple of times during the transition, and she was extremely helpful in the process. They made moving a very smooth experience for us as well. The location is within walking distance to public transportation and to campus. My daughter has a parking spot at the Commons, but she always walks or catches the campus transportation to go to class. The Commons are in the process of renovating the appliances, floors and counter tops, so the apartments look more updated than when she first moved in. Any time I've had to call the office, I've talked to polite, professional staff."
