The Sam Houston Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton

"Mixed feelings about that property. Location is central but streets around do not feel very safe. The staff is super friendly and helpful which is the highlight of the hotel. The rooms are fine, nothing fancy but the bathrooms are not great: very low water pressure, toilets that don't flush adequately. Mixed bag experience overall."

"My husband and I stayed at this hotel on 9/10/2024 and left the next morning. I will say the pro, here, is that the hotel is beautiful, the people who work there are great, but the con, here, is I honestly think it should be illegal to run fragrances through the air systems, because 1 of 2 people have a mast cell disorder, meaning they're allergic to something, and I have a lot of allergies. I had no clue some hotels run fragrances through their air system, but now I know to ask. I thought, within the first half hour, that I would have to go to the ER. Then, thankfully, my Benadryl kicked in and worked and I was good, but unfortunately I had to stay on it the entire time we were in Houston and the week thereafter, among a few other as needed meds for allergies. Anyways, if any hotel managers, owners, and so forth see this review, for any hotel you operate, Hilton or not, please give a bit more though about this type of product before using it. Maybe I'm one of THOUSANDS who have this bad type of reaction to your fragrances your run through your air system, but if I owned a hotel I wouldn't want anyone experiencing the allergic and asthmatic response that happened to me. And, finally, one does have to ask, "Why are you using all these fragrances?" Personally, it gives me the thought of, "What is this hotel trying to hide/mask? Is this hotel really clean?" And, among the sweet fragrance being ran through the air system, there was an undertone that smelled like when an animal dies and is decaying. So, whatever that undertone is, fix it, and you won't have to use the fragrances in the air system."

"Hotel is simply amazing love the historical vibes and it is situated right in the heart of downtown Houston! Outside of the ambiance, what makes this hotel amazing is the service, the front desk clerk Bobby was truly amazing! Very thoughtful and knowledgeable! He really made my stay at the Sam Houston memorable! If you are in Houston I highly recommend this hotel!"

"Outstanding service from Gino and the bar staff - the went above and beyond. Emily on the front desk was wonderful. The valet was always quick with the car. The room was large and comfortable. Water pressure in one of the showers slowed to a near trickle. One of the TVs had a bad screen with a football shaped dark area. Housekeeping was very minimal on Friday and then didn't come on Saturday even though I spoke to the cleaner about coming a bit later. Overall, I would stay here again. It was also quite reasonably priced."

"This hotel is small but adorable. It is well decorated and taken care of, too. The location is perfect for walking to office buildings, stadiums, and local food spots. The staff are amazing and really make everyone feel like a VIP. The regular rooms do not have a mini fridge but there is a well-stocked snack area on the first floor."
