"This hotel shouldn’t be a Marriott as it’s barely offering anything besides a place to stay. I checked into the hotel and the service and friendliness was barely there. The staff have an attitude of either take it or leave it. The hotel doesn’t recognize elite status besides doing bare minimum and even water bottles are not offered. You need to go to lobby for water. They gave me beverage and food credit and didn’t even apply it when I checked out and now I have to contact them and modify charges after the fact. The rooms seemed clean at first but then I found a spider chilling in the bathroom and I attached a photo of it I also asked for late checkout during my stay and the front desk staff said ok. Then they call me on the day off telling me it’s my responsibility to ask on the day off or something like this. 0 customer service."
"As a Titanium Elite Bonvoy member who travels 50% for work, I would never stay here again for work or personally. I booked three nights, and checked out early. They never actually refunded me and refused to adjust the nights so it shows I checked out early. I called Titanium desk, no help, called the hotel and said there is no GM and the FD Manager would not help me. Said no on else to escalate this to. Said it is not front desk responsibility to confirm my dates of stay, policies or rate. I asked for date adjustment so I can expense it and was denied. Marriott is supposed to make it easy to travel for work, and made this a nightmare. Very odd...I will never stay there again when coming to Houston and reminded my colleagues to do the same."
"I recently extended my stay at Courtyard by Marriott at Rice University due to a canceled flight, but this led to a series of deeply disappointing and frustrating experiences. Firstly, the hotel services were underwhelming. The staff were not welcoming or friendly, which is not what I expected from a Marriott establishment. Despite reaching out to Marriott BonVoy three times, the hotel failed to address my concerns or take any meaningful action. A particularly distressing incident occurred with my payment for the additional nights. My card was initially declined despite showing an 'approved' message. When I tried to resolve this with the front office agent and the Manager over the phone, the situation was handled very unprofessionally. My card was approved upon reattempt, but the transaction still failed in their system. In a shocking turn of events, I was rudely asked to vacate the hotel at 11:30 pm. When I offered to pay in cash, I was told that the hotel does not accept cash payments. This situation forced me to make expensive long-distance calls to my banks in Jordan and Qatar, only to confirm that the authorization had indeed been approved from their end. It turned out that the error was due to the front office's mishandling of their payment system. This critical detail was overlooked by the staff, who instead chose to unjustly blame me and my financial institutions. Payment eventually went through and they never even apologized for keeping me there for almost an our and half trying to convince them not to vacate me and I have no problem with my banks. Such treatment and lack of professionalism are unacceptable, especially from a reputed hotel chain like Marriott. This experience has left me deeply disappointed, and I would not recommend this hotel based on the poor service and the unprofessional manner in which my situation was handled. ********** To Respond to your Reply: Thank you for your prompt reply to my review. I must say, I find it rather intriguing that my feedback is now being shared with the front desk leadership team for review. This comes as a surprise, especially considering the previous assurances that my concerns had been thoroughly discussed with, and endorsed by, the General Manager and higher management. It's fascinating how new layers of review and improvement seem to unfold post-review, despite our apparent 'impasse.' While I appreciate your gesture of hoping for my return, it's quite a conundrum. Given the finality and confidence expressed in your previous communications about the resolution of my case, one wonders what new experiences await me should I choose to stay at your establishment again. Nevertheless, I thank you for your dedication to hospitality and the continuous journey of learning and improvement it evidently entails. May our paths cross again, perhaps in a setting where the high standards you aspire to are more than just an aspiration."
"I had a very pleasant experience here. The outside looks a bit dated but the interior is fairly well renovated in my opinion. Staff was helpful and kind upon check in, room was spacious and clean. Beds squeaked a bit but I feel like most hotels you run into this issue - otherwise beds were pretty comfy. Only outdated parts in the room were the bathroom and the carpet but otherwise felt nice and upgraded. Parking was cheap and convenient. They have breakfast and dinner available but I didn’t get the chance to try it out. The location was convenient to rice village and university which are really nice areas and have tons of shopping and restaurants. Overall a good experience and would stay here again."
"While I'm used to skipping new sheets or towels in the interest of conservation, I'm not a fan of not having the bed made or trash taken out daily. First Marriott I've stayed in with no complimentary lotion either. Staff at the little bar area was very nice and pleasant to chat with while waiting for food or a hit drink."
