Aloft Houston by the Galleria 5415 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77056

"Went to first room assigned. Room had not been made up. Got another room assigned. Toilet didn’t work. Got that fixed by maintenance man who happened to be in the hall. When I got ready to go to bed, found the shades would not lower. Blocked the outside light the best I could. Reported it the next day. Came back for second night and shade still not fixed. Would love to give review on Marriott site, but you have to be invited to participate in survey. Since I complained to the front desk, I guess I was flagged to not get a survey. Will not stay at this hotel again."

"Pros: The bed was clean and comfortable so I got a good nights rest. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. The proximity to the Gallaria was superb. Cons: The room was not updated, ceiling in the bathroom had an opening, pop blue bathroom floor was not clean, an old air conditioner was not fully blowing out air and the refrigerator was just sitting on the floor exposed (normally they are enclosed)."

"This aloft location did not meet our expectations. The building interior structure is run down & not well maintained. The elevators make weird clicking noises, which is scary. We placed our dirty towels on the floor & when we came back, the maid had made our bed, but left the dirty towels on the floor & did not leave a lay clean towels. In addition, the A/C in the room did not work properly. The room remained warm our entire stay. The hotel is in Texas! Having a warm room is unacceptable! We will not be staying here at this location again!"

"Our kids love Aloft. The lobby has all kinds of activities. We played pool, pitch and catch with sticky pads & tennis balls that they provided, and we watched a movie in the lobby. The staff were so great. Hailey and Sean were very welcoming and professional at the front desk. There was a staff that was handing out popcorn that was so nice….I wish I had her name to give her a shout out. She was so nice to my kids and kept giving us popcorn with a good attitude and swept up their popcorn at the end of playing without complaining too. 4 stars just because it’s an older aloft. The pool is indoors but it isn’t heated."

"We've never had a bad stay at the Aloft in other cities, however this one was below average. The building itself is in need of upgrades/maintenance. In our room, the shower head needed to be aimed toward the corner, otherwise the water would leak outside the shower - we had to ask for extra towels to clean up the water that leaked. The water pressure is very sharp to the point where it hurt to take a shower. Sheets were scratchy, smelled old, and the comforter was torn. Pillows were flat and uncomfortable. No microwave in the room - which wasn't a big deal, but for those that leave restaurants with leftovers, the microwave is in the lobby. The clothing iron in the room had something burnt and crusted on it - so I was unable to iron my shirt. Housekeeping needs to do a more thorough check because by the last night I saw a strange piece of clothing hooked on the pipes under the sink (the bottom of sink is exposed) - it was someone's bloodied period stained underwear from a previous stay. That alone made me feel uneasy and disturbed. I was disappointed in the lack of attention of cleaning between visitors - unsure how long this underwear had been there for. When we left at 3AM to catch our flight, the elevator was out of service and we couldn't even get back into our room to call the hotel desk - (also the phones weren't working during our entire stay anyway - so this would have been useless) instead we had to walk down 7 flights of sketchy stairs to get to our car parked in the ramp. When we checked out, we informed our frustration with the front desk (the bloodied underwear and the elevator) and they didn't do anything other than say "oh, that's unfortunate" - this will be the last time we ever stay in an Aloft."
