"This best thing about this hotel is the bar and bar staff. Breakfast hasn't been available at least 1-2 days a week. You'll need to be top physical shape because you never now if the elevators are going to be working or not."

"The two stars are because of safety concerns which will be addressed in the review. Everything else with the place was great. We travel from NW Indiana to the Tampa FL area often to visit our son and grandkids. We try to stay in different places each time in order to sight see and see new places. This was our first time staying in Macon. We were able to get a room without any problems. The two girls working the front desk that afternoon/evening were very friendly and helpful. The room was very spacious, clean and no issues at all. We got our stuff in the room and freshened up real quick before heading out. After getting some dinner and a short drive around town, we headed back for the night. The wife went to the room to read before going to bed early. I decided to stop at the lobby bar and have a drink before bed. Had a great time talking with the bartender and other guests. Went outside to smoke a couple times. Each time the girls at the front desk were friendly and did not mind me stopping just to talk and ask questions about the area. When the bar was closing around 10, I headed back to the room. I don't sleep well when traveling, usually an hour or two the up for a bit, rinse and repeat. Has nothing to do with quality or comfort of beds/rooms, just not my house, not my bed. Anyways, about 11:30 I'm up and go out for a smoke. One of the girls from earlier was at the desk. After a quick chat headed back up for another nap. I was up again about 2, and back down to go smoke. No one at the desk on my way out. While smoking I could see into the back office through the window right next to the smoking area. The night shift girl was asleep in the back office. When I finished and went back in, I noticed that I did not need to use my room card to get in "after hours". The doors were not locked. I went back out to smoke around 330 and 6. She was still sleeping in the office every time and the front doors were open for anybody to just walk in and have access to the elevators to get to the guests rooms. If you are traveling with family or alone I would not recommend this place for security reasons. With all the stupid stuff going on nowdays, I want to feel safe when staying someplace away from home. And I definitely would not want any family or friends to stay somewhere unsafe either. Being all the guest rooms are on floors 2-5, if someone were to come up and force entry, nobody from the hotel would know."

"I stayed Wed & Thu nights. Didn't sleep more than 1hr at a time, for 2 reasons: First, the hotel is right up against a busy railroad track (and although the hotel was less than 30% occupied, I was placed on the backside and practically right on top of the train track) - and secondly, the entire hotel was freezing inside.. they had cold A/C running - into all the hallways and public spaces, despite freezing temperatures outside. My room never got warmer than 62°F, there were no extra comforters. I was offered a second set of sheets when I asked for blanket. One employee told me the HVAC for the hotel was regulated by a corporate office.The staff wore big heavy winter coats. Front desk staff slept at night, creating an awkward space when coming to make a request. Lobby coffee was cold everytime i tried it, no matter the time of day. Breakfast was very basic, nothing inspiring. The breakfast attendant was very kind and tried to be helpful, as did all the staff."

"showers look dirty, floors in the room are laminate and are coming up. their check in time is 4pm where as most other IHG hotels are 3pm. My room wasn't ready. The hotel is right by train tracks and a train I'd actively running the tracks pretty regularly. there are nicer hotels around this one so choose any of the other ones."

"The room was overall pretty good, very clean. ++Beds were comfortable and clean. +Nice hand soap and shower soaps in the bathroom +Lots of closet and cabinet space -Floors need re-done, vinyl is starting to come up --Our room didn't have any opaque curtains. If we had to sleep during the day, or if I was sensitive to light during sleep I would absolutely need to have that rectified. Didn't ask or say anything to staff since it wasn't a big deal for us."
