Sleep Inn Columbia 1901 Rockland Road, Columbia, SC 29210

"While it's clear this property has been updated/remodeled relatively recently (something I saw in another review that swayed me to reserve a room), it missed the mark in some ways. There was an odd smell like a heavy citrus disinfectant or deodorizer. They have a cool option to play white noise in your room, but although I did not choose it, I heard it playing throughout my visit. The area (exit and streets) was very dark and unwelcoming. There weren't many options for dining (Subway, Burger King, and CookOut were "recommended") or anything else. I had to drive an additional 15 minutes to get to an area with shopping and dining options. On the plus side, the staff were friendly, the bed was reasonably comfortable, and, overall, the place was relatively clean. Overall, it was a decent value for the money (I spent the previous night in a Hampton Inn), but I probably would not choose it again if I'm ever in the area."

"The staff was courteous & very friendly. Upon check-in, the hotel smelled clean and looked okay. Once in the hallway there was a smell, the room was clean but very dated. The bathroom was separate from the sink area. There were spots on the walls that indicated some paint touch ups had been done. There was a socket that didn't work & the pillows/matress were by far the worst. My family & I decided not to go down for the free breakfast. The area is not the best as far as nothing really being near the hotel (food, entertainment). More than likely won't stay here again, but the staff was the best thing about this hotel."

"Take it from someone who sleeps in hotel beds more than they sleep in their own bed… DO NOT STAY HERE! We were looking for a quick, cheap stop to rest for the night, so we didn’t expect it to be the world’s greatest hotel— BUT, we did expect it to at least be clean. This hotel was so NASTY, and the staff, so incredibly rude. The carpets were filthy, looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in years, the whole place smelled like an ashtray, and the toilet seat in our room was not even nailed to the ground—It literally moved from the wall any time you sat on it. This place was horrible. I was scared I was going to get sick, or get bed bugs, just by sleeping there for a few hours. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!"

"Not a terrible place to stay but not a great place either. It was close to the sports complex we played at so that was a plus. Price was more than I usually pay because of the USC v FL football game, but this was a place to get some rest. Saw the attached sign in the elevator and thought it was funny. Enjoy!"
