Hyatt Place Columbia/Downtown/The Vista

"Hotel under heavy renovation. No renovated rooms finished as advertised. Bathroom had black mold, fitness center closed, elevator lined with old carpet taped up on sides. Odd having ‘maintenance’ knocking on your door at 8:45am when you didn’t ask for maintenance and he has no tools. Staff knew nothing about it. BE ADVISED! Not a typical Hyatt experience."

"The staff at the hotel was great. The rooms itself not so much. We had absolutely no shampoo, conditioner, or body wash. The beds were very uncomfortable and there wasn’t much lighting availabe.The breakfast was okay but not really many options. The location however is perfect, so many restaurants and things to do."

"The biggest problem was the shuttle which was the reason we booked this hotel. The hotel website says the shuttle is available within a 3 mile radius of the hotel. We attended an event at the Colonial Life Arena which was . 4 mile away from the hotel. The 1st portion of the shuttle to the arena was no problem. We tipped the driver generously and was told by the driver to call 15 minutes ahead of time and they would be right there. On the return from the arena we left the event 25 minutes early in order to get the shuttle back to the hotel promptly as we both have back issues which didn't enable us to walk back to the hotel. My wife calls the hotel and was told the shuttle would be there shortly. 20 minutes later no shuttle, she calls the hotel to find out what the issue was. She's told they are very busy and when did you call. Moral of the story, it took 40 minutes for the shuttle to arrive from . 4 mile away. 2 different drivers involved, front desk clueless on what was going on and it took 3 phone calls to fix the issue. 2 calls to front desk who had no idea where the driver was and one to the driver who had no idea where anyone had been dropped off. Needless to say after dealing with a hotel who charges 287.00 per night plus $18 to park and a clueless shuttle system. IT AIN'T WORTH IT!!!"

"Excellent location and somewhat updated property. Bathroom still have shower curtains and there's popcorn on the ceiling, but otherwise can tell this has had a recent update. Definitely would stay again."

"The young lady who works behind the desk overnight (specifically on 10/13 when I checked in after midnight) offered a warm and positive welcome. When I first walked in, I got the vibe from the person in front of me that they weren’t that nice to her (no clue as to why) but after she was done assisting them, she quickly turned to my group with a positive attitude and greeted us. I also had a bit of an issue with a rattling noise from the a/c vent in my original room, and she was happy to place me somewhere else (even though I know it was a busy weekend with a USC home game). I just wanted to say I think she has great customer service skills! Also my stay there was very pleasant. My room was clean, breakfast was great, and location was very convenient!"
