"The room was nice. Service fine. The location isn't so great. But the worst part about this hotel is that when we arrived, they had cancelled the booking as it was taken under new management. All guests were offered to stay the night but not for free, despite the inconvenience. Most surrounding hotels are being taken over to become shelters, so it is basically not operational. Wouldn't recommend this area as of 16th May 2023. If you plan to visit NYC, I recommend finding something in Manhattan, even if it's a little more pricey."
"I give it a 0/5 I would not recommend booking this hotel. This hotel is still under construction and there’s no breakfast or dinner when me and my mom came to this hotel. We expected things to be nice when we got into our room. It was small and the fridge was very small to the point. It wasn’t even a mini fridge, you could barely stuff anything in the fridge and there’s no local restaurants around the hotel. The only thing I will give High Hopes is the gym. But anyways, the housekeeping is horrible. One of them left opened a window and almost led to my brother, almost falling off and on the first day we came to this hotel my baby sister got injured and got a scar on the side of her face also half of this hotel floors are empty with no people anyways, I recommend you not booking this hotel. Have a good day."
"Hotel was as expected. A holiday inn. Clean, generic, the same as the others. Some staff were fantastic, some were less friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the location isn't great. It did not feel safe for tourists. I feel there is some attempts of gentrification which is being lead by the hotel being positioned and a similar one close by, but currently we didn't feel completely safe in this area after dark and our children found it to be quite frightening. We booked here due to an Airbnb cancelling on us the day before our trip; with more time to research and more properties available without such short notice, I don't think we'd have stayed here and we won't stay again."
"The rooms and service were great. There's a gym you can use and it was empty when we visited. They serve breakfast for a fee and they have some chips and drinks at the lobby that you can buy. The stores and restaurants are a bit far but walkable. They have free coffee and tea. No water bottle. Free soap bar, shampoo and conditioner. No slippers, toothbrush and toothpaste. You can hear some noise outside but it doesn't bother our sleep. The bed is comfy and there are many big pillows. The bathroom is clean and looks new."
"The hotel itself was great, the views were great, and so was the staff! Plenty of amenities. I only give three stars because I want to stress to tourist like myself that it’s right smack in the middle of a sketchy neighborhood and a couple from Ravenswood Projects(thanks Google) so if you use mostly the subway to get anywhere at night I’d suggest taking a lift back to avoid walking to and from the subway past the memorial on the corner where someone was unfortunately recently killed or having to pass directly through low income housing."
