"My MOVE-OUT update bullet points: LOCATION: GREAT Across the street you have the Marina Library & a nature preserve walking trail. Also, .5 miles from the beach! STORAGE: GOOD A standard size closet on your back patio. APPLIANCES: EXCELLENT Even the studios have dishwashers. HEAT & AIR CONDITIONING: ACCEPTABLE Gas heat, no air conditions. Which is common for this area. PET POLICY: ACCEPTABLE No pets, unless they provide Emotional Support or Service. OUTDOOR SPACE: LOUSY The patio appears to be covered, but it's a sham, rendering your patio waisted space. Also, trash dumpsters are disgusting. There is not enough room for all of our trash so it overflows on a weekly basis. Also, we actually have to lift the disgusting lid to throw out trash. The manager said that it was a city ordinance to keep the lid on the trash dumpster so I asked the city and they said there is no such law in Marina. PARKING: INCONVENIENT I constantly had sap on my car from having to part in my assigned spot. Also, the sprinkler system hit the front and right side of my car every night, keeping my car vulnerable to water spots, but mostly attracting dirt. The parking spots match your apartment number, which is unsafe. In addition there is absolutely no parking for guest and if you have a second car you'll be paying an extra $75. Needless to say those few parking spots sit empty. LANDLORD: CHANGING There used to be no landlord available on the weekend (weird, right?). Lately, the semi-new Apartment Manager, Robert has been around. He seems to understand customer service too. Robert has also made lots of improvements and he takes feedback well. This guy genuinely likes his job and understands that a little kindness and professionalism goes a long way. In short, Robert is raising the standards at Marina Beach Apartments. SECURITY: CONFUSING There are cameras everywhere, but it's obvious that some are disconnected. In my opinion, the system should be updated and the tenants should be notified. NOISE: GOOD Too many police sirens though. Which isn't Marina Beach Apartment's fault, just saying."

"I have lived in the Marina Beach Apartments for a year. The apartment was very quiet, exceptionally clean, very well maintained and conveniently located to the beach, shopping center and major highways. I strongly recommend this apartment."

"The Shake's own this place, by the way. Which explains the increase on rent and refusal to return security deposits. The Shakes own most restaurants in Cannery Row and Fisherman Warf, ex. Old Fisherman Grotto, Whale Watching, Sabu Safari, etc. etc. etc. I have lived her 2 and half years and had a great experience until last year when it took them 7 months to repair my heater. I was very patient for a couple of months and didn't want to be a bother to them just so I wouldn't compromise my housing situation but once it became winter I sent them an email urging them to fix my heater since it was winter and Bobby, the lazy maintenance guy, did not come back and fix the heater like he said he was (all of this was documented via email). Maintenance retaliated and accused me of contraband inside the unit when I followed up with property management regarding the concern of the work order. I was very offended by the accusation and followed up via email telling them that it was not true and stated that they should have taken pics and called the police if that was really the case. When it was time to renew my lease, they gave me a 60 day notice and told me to move. All of this because of a heater repair that took them 7 months to fix and after 3 work order request. Failure to fix work order to provided a habitable place (like heater) and retaliation is against the law by the way. In addition, it is pass my 21 days and they still have not refunded my deposit nor did they want to sent me an itemize deduction when I asked them for it via email. Which again, its against the law. I encourage anyone who has has bad experience of this place to please contact me so we can gather our case and file a lawsuit agaisnt them. I have documentation ready to provide proof of their unfair housing practices. PS- We are protected by California Fair Housing Laws: 1.You are allowed to withhold rent if property management fails to provide habitable unit. ex. heater repair. 2. It is against the law for a landlord to retaliate when a tenant exercises their right. Tenant can contact local agencies for mediation or legal advocacy. 3. It is harassment and defamation of character for a landlord to falsely accuses a tenant without evidence. The landlord was supposed to enter my unit when maintenance reported contraband and take pictures so they can prove that I really did sell drugs in the unit. Which they obviously didn't. 4. The landlord has 21 days to refund security deposit and is suppose to notify the tenant the itemize deductions before they deduct the security deposit . And mail security deposit first class mail. They didn't even want to tell me when they mailed out the check or tell me what the deductions were."

"I have lived at these apts for awhile. The manager, Janna, is great, she is always willing to listen. Bobby, our maintenance guru is great and gets the job done quickly and efficiently. One concern - safety. We need gates for the parking lot. Kids cut thru walking to school, Beach Rd. residents drive thru constantly. No cameras, cars are broken into at night. Vagrants crash in the laundry room. The parking lot is an accident waiting to happen. The owners need to step up the safety before increasing the rent. I like the apts., like the people, just wish it was more protected."
