Santa Monica Hotel

"I stayed in February as a solo female traveler. Location is a 10. Room was 10/10 clean (Sidny, thank you!). Customer service was great too. Laura and a young guy at the front desk were great!"

"Not what was advertised at all. Not a hotel but a roadside motel that's had an updo. When booking we made it clear we required a portacot, when we arrived we were told it was broken but no one had thought to tell us (or that the room didn't fit one) so there was no where safe for our baby to sleep. No solutions were provided. It was also not a hotel at all. Definitely a motel, not very close to anything you want to go to in Santa Monica and definitely didn't feel safe. We ended up having to leave and book somewhere else."

"Overall, pretty decent. Although it was $200 a night with taxes and fees, that's a little bit lower than other places in the area so I'm taking that into account. The main issue is there was no air-conditioning, just fans. I know it's January so they had the heat on and the air-conditioning units off, but it was nearly 80° today and the room itself stayed significantly hotter than the outside air, even with all the windows open and fans going. Only other negative was I found a sponge in the shower behind the shampoo bottle that had a bunch of hair sticking out of it, that was disgusting but not a huge deal because I just didn't touch it and the rest of the shower was clean. The room was also clean and nice, although it could've used a desk area to work at. They clearly are putting some work into keeping it updated, keeping up with the paintwork and design of the hotel, so kudos to them."

""Great Stay at Hotel Santa Monica" I'm a musician and entrepreneur and I loved my time at Hotel Santa Monica. It's really close to everything in Santa Monica, which is awesome. The beach is just a short walk away, and they even offer bike rentals! This was perfect for me since I love nature and learning about new places. Highly recommend this hotel for its great location and vibes. 5 stars!"

"Great simple rooms with kind and supportive customer service. One of the housekeeping staff (Rosa) felt like family... as warm and lovely as anyone can be. The bed was SO comfortable, I literally daydreamed about it while out and about. You think I'm exaggerating, but I'm not. (I know, Pitiful but true... but it was THAT comfortable.) There seemed to be many good rooms but the best room is number 16. It seemed that the others were less private. Room 16 also allowed the air to flow into and through the room easily without street exhaust. Super helpful customer service but beware the 28$ per night destination which, in my mind, is merely gauging (many if not most of the hotels do that it seems). But, at least they are upfront about it but it still sucks. If you book directly through them, maybe you can negotiate. The hotel is close to whole foods, the beach (easy safe walk) and the room has a small fridge and little espresso maker. Good shower, and all the basics with safe off-street parking for each room. Overall excellent. Would definitely return but would try to negotiate down the destination fee... Despite the fact that it is one of the cheapest places in town. They also have a really nice offer of $10/night off IF you don't request maid service. I hope that helps."
