"This is insanity Marriott. If I were in your lobby beating on a drum and yelling, you would tell me to leave, or you'd call the police to have me removed. My ears are ringing from this obvious violation of my rights to be at peace while in private property. No problem with protesting outside on public property, but Marriott, please stand up for yourself. Front desk staff say there is nothing they can do and that it happens every day. I won't be back."

"Rooms are nice and clean. Very nice to be within walking distance from the beach. Yolanda from the cafe downstairs is honestly probably the best part of the stay! She was extremely pleasant, super sweet and just a kind person!"

"Find another hotel. The property itself is fine, rooms are typical for Courtyard properties and clean, and there is valet parking. BUT. The location. Across from train station, large number of homeless or just people loitering on sidewalks. It is a four block or so walk to the Santa Monica Pier, but through a maze of people sleeping on the sidewalk, asking for money, yelling, or just loitering in groups. A man wandering up and down the sidewalk on the walk to the Pier was calling random pedestrians “terrorists”. I was on a business Zoom call at 7am when a protest parade with drums and whistles appeared below my window. At 3am there was very loud music/bass outside the hotel for at least 30 minutes. The agent at the front desk responded “not late at night” when the guest in front me checking in asked, “is the area safe”. I understand these are external factors, outside of Marriott's control, but guests considering this property should be aware. I won’t be staying here again."

"This hotel is really nice for the area. It is walking distance to the beach but the area isn't the safest and I wouldn't take that walk alone. The rooms are nice and clean. The only issue I have is the noise from levels above. There seems to be no type of insulation because it is LOUD if someone is walking in a room above you and when housekeeping vacuums it sounds like they will fall through the ceiling at any moment. Overall it was a good stay and I'd stay here again."

"We stayed here for the night of Hurricane Hilary (which was just heavy rain)… We had a decent stay, my only real complaint would be lack of parking. Your only option here is hotel valet parking @ $52/night, or street parking, which is limited in space and allowed duration, so unless you feed the meters and move your car regularly, valet is pretty much it. I accidentally went past the time on my parking meter on the street and the City of Santa Monica was lightning fast to issue a $63 parking ticket. On a Sunday night. In a hurricane. But I digress… Are there homeless everywhere? Yup. Is that the same as every other west coast city? Yup. While our room’s window leaked profusely during the monsoon rains we made it work easily enough with some extra towels to soak up the water. The room itself was clean and well appointed so the small water issue didn’t affect our stay. The staff we encountered- front desk, valet team & cafe were all very friendly and helpful. Overall nothing here was a game changer for us, we’d probably stay again if the need arose."
