Galena Log Cabin Getaway

"The owner was amazing.. The experience was so positive.. We came to get away and got so much more.. Having a whole cabin to yourself for the price of a hotel room. Alpacas in the morning. Never once touched the TV.. Watched the fireplace and spent time together instead. What an experience. I left with my spirit renewed. Highly recommend. Everyone needs this at some time or another. Good for the soul."

"Ok for starters the cabin was a little expensive to me for what you got but the place is pretty nice and comfortable . It is family owned a woman and her husband owned this land but unfortunately the husband recently passed and the wife who is a older woman was left by herself to run it so keeping that in mind I loved it and wish I stayed longer. They were pretty laid back compared to most places you stay at who rush you out the door asap.. I stayed her to watch the lunar eclipse and was really happy with hanging out by the fire all night. The alpacas are cute but you can't really pet them and the woman was extremely nice and friendly.. I plan on going back not sure about all the cabins but the Lincoln had a bed downstairs and one up stair and a big bathroom.. it had a coffee pot fridge and microwave also which is nice I got a few cabins in my day with tiny bathrooms and no fridge so this is great.. although make sure you have bottled water I wasn't a fan of the water.."

"My friends and I had an amazing weekend at Galena Log Cabin Getaway. We had fun with the alpacas, explored Galena, grilled, watched the stars, roasted marshmallows, and enjoyed the cozy cabins. The Getaway is an easy drive to downtown Galena but maintains a relaxing out in nature feel. We found the cabins warm and spacious, with everything we could possibly need from camp chairs to a comfy living room set and two beds. Ruth, the owner, was a delight and so thoughtful. She prepared us breakfast baskets each day and made sure we had enough wood for our fire at night. In between, she periodically gave us tips on things to do, shared some stories, and gave us treats with which to coax the alpacas over to us. If you want a camping getaway but don’t want to stay in a tent, this might be just the answer for you. The stars were spectacular. We are already discussing future trips to this wonderful retreat."

"We had a great time this weekend visiting Galena and staying at the log cabin. Ruth was incredibly sweet and helpful before and throughout our stay. The dark site made it amazing for star gazing and the area was so peaceful day and night. The Alpacas in the property were great, the kids enjoyed interacting with them (from a distance). I have nothing negative to say but just that the water has lots of minerals so the smell is inevitable! Bathrooms could use a slight upgrade but if you’re into the “olden days” feel, everything will be perfect for you."

"My husband and I stayed here for one night for an an anniversary and baby moon get away. We had read reviews but decided to give it a shot. Ruth was there and super sweet and nice. Yes the place has older details but it’s a cabin and secluded so we were not expecting a hotel feel. When we arrived our cabin was ready and very peaceful. It reminded me of staying at grandmas house as a little girl. I enjoyed the natural feel of the place. We will be going back once the baby is older and bringing a long our other two children. Ruth talked to us and I found out her husband passed not long ago. She is doing a great job!"
