DeSoto House Hotel 230 South Main Street, Galena, IL 61036

"The location was great, however I would not stay in this hotel in the future. The room my husband I stayed in was outdated and in need of maintenance. The carpet was dingy, and in need of cleaning. The wallpaper in the bathroom was stained yellow especially near the sink area. The floors were in need of a good scrub and some of the floor tile was worn and dirty which was evident by the dirty grout. The bathroom vent was extremely loud. Our room was next to the elevators so that we were able to hear the elevators coming going up and down. This was my first time staying at this hotel, I was not impressed. The hotel staff was helpful and friendly."

"We had a wonderful Valentine's weekend and will be coming back soon! The truffles and chocolates paired nicely with the champagne ❤️ Dinner that night was a perfect 8oz med rare sirloin steak, shrimp ravioli the next night. I will be dreaming about that steak"

"We did not stay at the Desoto Hotel. We did eat at their patio breakfast location. The food was excellent. I had an omelet, and my wife enjoyed a waffle. We talked to a number of people who stayed at the hotel. All said it they were having a wonderful stay and that the Desoto was doing everything they could to accommodate all their needs. One couple said that they have stayed there a number of times and it is the only hotel they stay at."

"Beautiful hotel right on Main Street - couldn’t be better for a location. Parking garage is attached. You can walk out front door and shop along Main Street or walk the River Walk, go to dinner, etc. Tried 2 of 3 eating options within the hotel - both great. Would definitely return to this hotel if we are in the area again. Staff was very polite and friendly."

"Beautiful, historical hotel right in the center of Main St. The rooms were spacious and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. A word of warning regarding the parking ramp- the entrance to the ramp is quite narrow as are the entrances to the ramps inside. We literally held our breath as we slowly inched our way up the curving ramps to the 3rd level of parking. If another car were to be coming down while we were going up, someone would have had to reverse down this nightmare as there is barely enough room for one car. Exiting the ramp, however, was a breeze."
