"Update: 2 months later and our ceiling hasn’t been fixed. We call multiple times a day and don’t get responses from anyone. AND NOW, someone has been in our apartment, while I was sleeping, and stolen from us. We spoke with someone saying they were the owner and evidently multiple people in our building have been stolen from. There are no signs of a break in, so it was more than likely someone who has a key, which is even more terrifying. If anyone knows how to get out of a lease early, advice would be welcome."

"If you are moving to the Cleveland area I would recommend staying as far away from Shaker Square Apartments as possible. My fiance and I moved in to our apartment in July, and while the apartment itself is awesome, we have had nothing but problems with the leasing office. We have called multiple times since moving in about having our intercom system set up, and after being told each time that it would be "taken care of" we finally gave up. They market newly renovated apartments, but fail to tell you that the buildings are barely holding together. Right before we moved in they had to repair the ceilings in our bathroom due to "water damage from upstairs", we probably should have ran the other way at this point. Then, this winter we began to notice water damage to the ceiling in one of our bedrooms. The entire ceiling began to crack and there is severe water damage to a lot of our property. We called the emergency maintenance man who basically told us that Shaker Square does the bare minimum to patch up the water damage, which is why it keeps happening. The people that work in the office are basically useless as they are never there, and when you do finally get through to them they have no answers. We have been calling for literally three weeks, have left multiple voicemails, and today were told that there were other emergencies "more important than ours". We've also been told that maintenance people would be out to see our apartment, and we have not seen a maintenance person yet. I have never worked with a more incompetent group of people in my entire life. Needless to say, we will not be renewing our lease come July."

"If your apartment is nice and doesn’t need repair you should be fine. BUT if you ever need to get ahold of the staff, good luck... they make a great pitch when you’re touring apartments but since I’ve moved in we’ve had the hardest time getting ahold of them. Their office closes at 4pm, you can try to call them but they usually don’t answer and you can’t leave a message (call just hangs up). I’ve lived here since since Aug 2018 and it’s been a constant battle with parking and getting them to come fix things (door knob broke first week here). My neighbors in my apartment building haven’t had a hot shower all month, duke threatened to shut down the heat the first week of November."

"My daughter moved into this apartment today and the management DID NOT bother to clean the apartment before she moved in. The blinds have years of black dirt, dust and grim. The baseboards have years of black dirt, dust and grim. The oven, on the stove, has baked on food. Deplorable to say the least. Rent is almost $1,000 and for what. Oh yeah, the carpet lining the hallway has so many stains that you don't even want your shoes to touch it. Who manages this place at 2870 South Moreland????"
